There were no 'amateurs' on this downhill. ANY person that has got the 'balls' to attempt this hill has got my respect, whether they finish or not. Anya getting the bronze a day after her fall is a testimony to the safety measures employed as well as her almost unbelievable strength of charachter.

the vancouver olympics have been the best winter olympics ever

the georgian athlete died because he was ranked 42 in the world and that was the hardest luge course in the world, which by the way, was inspected and certified by the ioc and internation luge federation

and its a zambonni not a "skating machine"

and really..it spilled water on the ice which was fixed in less than half an hour

and the womens alpine team got another training run before this one but it was cut short due to fog

@Ale7674 Yes it's unfortunate what happened but what the media neglects to tell you is that the Whistler Sliding center hosted the 2009 luge world championships with the exact same track and there was no problems. The track was certified by the IOC and not to mention the fact that the luger did'nt have experience on tracks like these and there was a mechanical problem in his steering. But yeah, I see why you and everyone else will blame the track. hmm

Even though I am not a Lindsey Vonn fan, I enjoyed watching yesterday's downhill because it was genuinely difficult - no, I didn't like seeing people fall, in fact Paerson's fall made me very concerned, but you could see that it was a tough course, and that is the way it should be when it's the Olympics.
