No surprise the foreign teams aren't getting any practice runs, how else would Canada bag any medals? Called Winning at any cost, and that includes International Credibility I imagine?
There were no 'amateurs' on this downhill. ANY person that has got the 'balls' to attempt this hill has got my respect, whether they finish or not. Anya getting the bronze a day after her fall is a testimony to the safety measures employed as well as her almost unbelievable strength of charachter.
For god sakes it's the Olympics, you're supposed to be the best. This course has been around for a very long time and conditions were perfect so stop Whining!
@MRsuperSQUIRRAL Im sorry, where is gb on the medal standings??? oh thats rite 5th from the bottom. Where's Canada? in the TOP 5. GB can go home cuz they aint doing nething in the olympics neways....
I respect Canada as a country BUT the Winter Olympics 2010 in Vancouver has been nothing but a joke!
Gerogian athlete died
In alpine the women didn't get to practise
In women's sprint they forgot to put a fence up to shield a dangerous downhill section, which lead to the inuury of a slovakien sprinter, who broke 5 ribs
In ski-shooting women they released Anna Carin Oloffson over 14 sec late
In men they released two skiers over 30 seconds to early
LMAO You are obviously an Olympic bandwaggon jumper. The problems in Vancouver have been minor compared to previous Olympics. Every Olympic games held has been under the same microscope. The worst Olympics in history was Atlanta. Vancouver doesn't even have 1/4 of the issues they had there.
Wait until the summer games in England. Ready for two weeks of rain? lol This type of hype surrounds every games.
@maisler Grow up buddy, these olympics are the best I've ever been too and I was in Torino and Salt Lake. Problems and complaints happen at every games. These problems are minor compared to some of the other games.
the vancouver olympics have been the best winter olympics ever
the georgian athlete died because he was ranked 42 in the world and that was the hardest luge course in the world, which by the way, was inspected and certified by the ioc and internation luge federation
and its a zambonni not a "skating machine"
and really..it spilled water on the ice which was fixed in less than half an hour
and the womens alpine team got another training run before this one but it was cut short due to fog
@Ale7674 Ok well I dont really know why your responding to my comments from almost a year ago but w.e. If you think Torino was better, thats your opinion I personally think the Vanouver was alot better, the venue's and the location itself were more accomidating as well as it was in the heart of a Winter sport paradise
@Ale7674 Yes it's unfortunate what happened but what the media neglects to tell you is that the Whistler Sliding center hosted the 2009 luge world championships with the exact same track and there was no problems. The track was certified by the IOC and not to mention the fact that the luger did'nt have experience on tracks like these and there was a mechanical problem in his steering. But yeah, I see why you and everyone else will blame the track. hmm
@Ale7674 Insecure circuit? You don't know what you're talking about. He wasn't a professional and he didn't have enough experience to race on a track of such difficulty. It's heartbreaking and tragic but the truth is he was in way over his head.
Man, I guess they are skiing on gravel, eh? lol The ski hill is awesome, as every podium finisher will tell you. The media likes to ask opinions of 40th ranked athletes that bitch about everything to makes themselves look better.
Ask any top Athlete, the Whistler Ski hills are very technical and dangerous, that's what separates Olympians from amateurs.
@quackduck51 Vancouver has had record amounts of rain this year. Normally there is tons of snow. Stop being ignorant. The athletes say the courses are the best they've ever seen.
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Stupid Canadians. First a Georgian dies on one of their luge courses practising, now this. It's one thing to have a difficult course, it's quite another to have some high-speed downhill deathfuck completely unnavigable.
Canada is really f ing up the olympics for everyone theirs almost a delay on every event, they not giving the athletes enough rep time on the course, this is getting really sad to see, i know you cant control nature but thats why you always have a back up plan.
How is "Canada" as a country f-ing up thes Olympics? Do we control the weather retard? There are backup plans, but you can't have control everything. There's only one downhill course. You don't appreciate how challenging it's been just putting these games on with the unusually warm winter we've been having.
You had replied to me earlier when I only commented that this is embarrassing to Canada. I mean't it with no ill will, sarcasm or humor. It is obvious that this strikes a pained core within you, as you have decided to single-handedly fending off the vicious internet inquisition. I wish you the greatest amount of luck with that, but author S. King once said "any a-hole with 2 eyes & an opinion can be a critic... F#@% 'em". It is apparent the USA has more morons than Canada, but you guysR gaining
Touche. I like a reply with logic. I don't know if we're gaining, I watch the Daily Show every day and I don't see the collective intelligence down there increasing. If we are gaining it's due to immigration.... ;-)
I, too, don't see how it's Canada's fault that people fell. Guess what? It's the Olympics, people! It's MEANT to be difficult! People tried their hardest, and some failed! It happens!
Even though I am not a Lindsey Vonn fan, I enjoyed watching yesterday's downhill because it was genuinely difficult - no, I didn't like seeing people fall, in fact Paerson's fall made me very concerned, but you could see that it was a tough course, and that is the way it should be when it's the Olympics.
How is it Canada's fault that skier's fall? The Olympics should have a hard course. I loved watching this downhill. Not just because there were crashes, but because it was so difficult.
Oh I'm sooooo embarrassed! Are you kidding me? Anyone from US should be an expert on how it feels to be embarrassed by your country. The republicans seem to say or do something utterly stupid every day.
there has been some negative energy surrounding this Olympics. But in terms of snow and racing conditions, it just goes to show that controlling nature is conditional
Well it's very important to be reasonable. I'd be the one in the kitchen if my babby daddy was a bum, and vice versa! I just don't think it's right to say women are meant to be in the kitchen, or men. It's sexist, an once again, my reply was a joke.

leave it to the fucking assossiated press to fucking rag on this shit
canada spends almost eight years preparing for these olympics and the american media complains about the stupidest things.
clearly they like to interview the 40th ranked skiers and ask them how the course conditions were to make the downhill seem like hell
then they said the canadian ski federation designed the super g course so lindsey vonn couldnt win
then the ice at the olympic oval was to "sticky"
fucking babies
