  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah what a beautiful song !!! I think I'll use it for my quality-time...

    ( ^_^)

  • As a metal ballad, it's one of their best! I love this so called ''bad era'' heh. Long live Saxon.

  • I'm just amazed. Whatever they do, they aree amazing. They could even rap, and be better than eminem or someone. One of best bands ever

  • i po tolika letech se dáááá poslouchat,da sílu.legenda a skvělá.

  • @01pajda přesně tak, ať žijou!

  • jedna z najlepszych piosenek Saxon

  • Sucks ass..

  • one of the best songs of Saxon, are a fundamental group in England

  • σαν τα παλια δεν εχει !!!

  • ωραιο τραγουδι !!!!

  • This my favorite song of all time I think, why so underrated?

  • una hermosa canción al estilo meloso de Journey del album "Destiny"

  • Oh my god... thank god Saxon hasn't any other songs like this!

  • A great song...I saw SAXON way, way back in the 80's.....they were supporting RAINBOW at DEESIDE LEISURE CENTRE in the UK......Saxon were awesome.Earlier this year I bumped into BIFF in London [FEB 2011] and was lucky enough to chat with him. What a great guy..and great sense of humour....

  • HO;Y GRASSPOPS!!! THIS IS SO POPPY TO SONGS LIKE REDLINE OR 6TH FORM GIRLS.

  • eu não posso esperar mais, parabéns pela postagem, very much good

  • nice song!

  • Very much like Whitesnake..without the persona of David Coverdale of course!

  • 08.12 - Warsaw!!!!

  • Damn, they got such wide range. And every bit of it is awesome, unbelievable.

  • I love this song.....:-)

  • I don't like them but this tune sounds strongly like AOR music! Nice to listen to! :)

  • don,t miss SAXON, santa ana y hollywood ca.

  • One of the best vocalists in the world.Biff!!!!!!

  • I think it's cool that Saxon incorporates a bit of AOR/melodic rock into their music here.

  • moro m molis giriso tha perasoume gamata... exe ipomoni...

  • @rattleheadhammer666 Αφιέρωση μέσω youtube? Ωραίος!

  • @zoyros92 xaxaxax eyxaristw poli re filaraki nasai kala !!! ;)

  • I love this track, shows how diverse Saxon can be :)

  • Who says NWOBHM bands can't do power ballads? Whether the band or their fans feel so or not, Destiny had some great tracks like this song, We Are Strong, and one of the greatest metal covers of a non-metal song ever in Ride Like The Wind. And don't forget Song For Emma. That tune is freakin epic.

  • I wish Saxon would incorporate some of the material from the 'Destiny' and 'Innocence Is No Excuse' albums in their live set. Truly molten slabs of hard rock!!!!

  • Funny old school vid also great music ! :-)

  • i just don't see why they call this the "bad era." maybe to metal purists, but i major in music and have so much love for damn near every style of music, and this foray into arena rock territory was very interesting in my eyes. this song easily could have been written by steve perry and jonathan cain, but biff's distinctive voice and graham's notably different soloing style from neal schon makes it theirs.

  • @samboy1288 I completley agree. But they went through the "commercial" period and have been going strenght to streng for the past 10 years.

  • Nothing wrong with the music but its not really metal..sounds way more like a harder Journey song. Whether Maiden could pull the song off or not is moot...they wouldn't even try.

  • This is when Saxon went soft

  • the best saxon song

    and this becoz

    it's AOR

  • Unfortunately... the 'bad' era of Saxon, Biff himself admits. No fault of their own, trying to appeal to the 'commercial' metal market in the US at the time. They deserved to get some higher success. Couple of temporary members, too. (Gee, could the drummer twirl the sticks a bit more?) Thank goodness they got back on track with 'Solid Ball of Rock' in 1990!

  • where is the guitar lead in the beginning?

  • Petsku,Pikkis Snake seen ya.....

  • actually firebott in this era yes kids pop and teen rock didnt exist but death metal and rap were there and they were huge! But heavy, hard rock, glam rock and sleaze rock were better than other shit!

  • so good as Def leppard style....Saxon are the most fucking best !

  • @lanejanlandonmorgan

You've never heard 747(Strangers In The Night), Piss Off, or Raise Some Hell obviously so wait for the comments till you have BOTH ears. Someone who can't appreciate more than one style of music in a band is obviously dense anyway. You want Viking outfits watch football and while you're at it it's Mister Rogers not RODGERS. This doesn't become you lol

Unleash The Beast! Saxon is a too often forgotten gem \m/

  • @xphile77

You are the ONLY one to reply to my insult. The only other fan of Saxon is Mulletman.

That's cool if you like them. It's just to soft and weak for my taste, that's all.

Good to know that you are an authority on "Mister Rodger's Neighborhood". You left out the apostrophe and the neighborhood.

Must be hell to defend Saxon. Now SLAYER on the other hand...............

  • @lanejanlandonmorgan

As to my Mister Roger's Neighborhood :chuckles: we both screwed up. It was spelling for you and I left out the apostrophe and "neighborhood". So, yes, I was as guilty as you lol As for being an authority I have to be familiar with that show because I have a 4 year old nephew and an almost 3 year old niece. I have no choice in the matter. Their parents got them DVDs of him over a year and a half period. Love the bands you love and I'll love mine. Take care.

  • @xphile77

  • @lanejanlandonmorgan

If you're into other bands like Slayer and Danzig that's cool. I just don't understand why if you dislike Saxon to that extent why you go to one of their videos let alone one that has about their slowest tempo. I figure if you don't like it don't hate on the people that do lol I'm still wondering how keen you'd be on them if they HAD been wearing costumes. Am I wrong or would you have found that kinda "glam"? BTW, I love Danzig and Slayer's music too.

  • love this song

  • drumer sucks...

  • Love this group..Saxon is my life I saw them 12 times in concert...always ou yeahhhhhhhhhhhh

  • one of the best song ever... I'm gonna learn it and soon I will post a cover on my channell :)

  • @blancfaces Did you by the record when it was released back in June 1988 like I did, Saxon had gone a bit soft at this stage however, I have aways stuck by this band been a true Yorkshireman like the band. Saxon are now back at the top they were massive at Download "Monster of Rock to me"

    Keep Rocking Saxon

  • @TheHijacked ... no: i was 7 years old in 1988 :) but i discovered SAXON late and I liked, as you can see on my last cover... did you sow it by the way?

  • Biff Byford you beast

  • okey, the first second of the intro reminds me of another song, but damn i can't remember the name.. help?

  • @AlphaxDelitE you thought it was Vixen

  • @tailguner no i mean the keyboard in the intro :o its not really a metal song but its a classic :p

  • @AlphaxDelitE FINALLY! it was Phil Collins Another Day In Paradise x) just came across it and remembered my comment here for some reason .. o'well :)

  • saxon ftw!

  • SAXON in Portugal. I can`t wait anymore.......

  • Great drummer NIGEL DURHAM.He is playng with oliver dawson saxon now.

very skilled drummer.Pete Gill is tehnnicly the best by far,but for me Nigel Glocklear

    is THE saxon drummer.

  • GREAT SONG.KIND OF GLAMM SAXON,BUT ALL THEY WANT WAS AMERICAN MARKET.BUT GREAT ALBUM AND SONG.STILL I LIKE BETTER WHEN THEY STICK TO WHAT THEY ARE.A FULL BLOODED NWOBHM BAND!STILL...GREAT SONG!HAIL SAXON!

  • Throughout the whole video I've been having my eyes glued to the drummer.

  • Uma das mais belas baladas do Saxon,,,adoro essa musica!

  • @LTBiermacht whatever man then just say you don't like the genre. And listen to necrophagist they are a bit like Athiest.

  • @LTBiermacht You don't know shit your just stuck in the past and your not open for new music...if it's not from the 80's you won't listen to it. You probobly never even listened to any of the bands I wrote and your just stuck in your box where extreme metal is not allowed. Those bands are technical, creative musical and energetic, have some great musicians in them that have influence from so many genres.Dude Saxon were popular back then, and we still listen to them cause they have a greatfeel

  • @LTBiermacht It's not mainstream or pop it's just bands that succeeded more then otheres and more people listen to by chance, they aren't selling thier ass for money like justin bieber byonce lady gaga or any of that other crap.

  • @LTBiermacht Melodeath is great music and is deep in lyrical and musical content and had some great bands in it.I enjoy the old school stuff in music in general not just metal, but there are some good things now that arent mainstream.

    Check out Insomnium

    Children Of Bodom

    Kalmah

    In Flames

    Daath

    Necrophagist

    Obscura

    Archeon

    there are many more

  • @LTBiermacht 80´S ARE THE BEST

  • This song reminds me a wonderful time of my life. And also reminds me how much it was worth to live everything. Unforgettable moments.

  • Oh shit!! I love this song!! why You ain't play this in Czech Republic in 1998? Great Song, thx Saxon

  • I like their heavier stuff. This trying too hard to be American. I don't blame them for it as is was a huge market. I just like their balls to the walls stuff

  • vittu mitkä efektit!

  • Drummer tries to spin his drum sticks. It's super effective!

  • Great song from a very underrated Saxon album.........Saxon rock........and have always done so.

  • I don't care what critics say. The only thing that matters is the connection between the listener and the music. This is great music that is very easy to fall in love with. They sing really well here and hey there is no reason why a band can't be able to do this kind of music and still pull off Crusader. It shows a range of talent and I'd like to see Iron Maiden try to sing a song like this. It would be awful becuase they simply can't do it. The complete catalog of Saxon is quite versatile.

  • @Zorro3740 hey good comment! people also forget that "Wasted Years" by Iron Maiden was a really touching ballad. :)

  • lol..Saxon trying to be pop at their time..

  • esta cancion es exelente!!! 7 personas son unas incultas!!

  • Saxon one of my favorite bands! thnx for the upload man, you've got great taste

  • uno de los mejores temas de mi album favorito el mejor es s.o.s.

  • This is kinda soft comming from Saxon but I still like it. Guess they changed their sound on "Destiny" to make it moore available for american radio and MTV. Probably also why they look like a hairband here in this video ;-)

  • @knutby I lost track of them after solid ball of rock and Destiny never bought an album again with Queensryche it was the same after Promised land I just kept to the Old days

  • Awesome song!!!! :D <3

  • Ugh. This was my favorite heavy metal band ever. Now they're playing pop music crap? I guess with age (aren't they in their 50s?) everything must mellow out, but this is more than I can take! Saxon has totally changed their 80s sound and is playing radio hit style pop? Wow. I killed this video before 1/2 way. Saxon?! I can't beleive how they've changed. They should change their name to Suxon.

  • @jesusisbetter this is from the 80's.kind of their stab at trying to hit the radio friendly mainstream. It didnt work. they have long since returned to there rock roots

  • @jesusisbetter this is ballad, read the description on the vid. they are back to there hard rock ways believe me, check out protect yourselves or come rock of ages. they tried pop once and they didn't make that mistake again

  • @jesusisbetter this was just a balad!!

  • really sad song :(

  • awesome song and band...I think they're very underrated :/

  • Erinner Dich, Süße....

shouting out loud... I canT WAIT ANYMORE

  • I´ve always loved Saxon since I had heard "Wheels of Steel". I still love ´em! But indeed ... the times they tried to get into the U.S. market had their kind of funny sides, like this video. I bet, Biff would love to never have taped it ...

  • Wow. Biff hugging the mic and looking at the camera... strange. But nice song and vid anyway!

  • Great. Greetings from Slovakia.

  • ja ja ja era la epoca de exito del A.O.R. en los USA el METAL MERMELADA que gracias a EUROPE o BON JOVI tuvimos que sufrir los metaleros de la epoca.

  • I love this song! SAXON rock so much it hurts!

  • he can stop spinning the drumscicks now

  • AmAzInG

  • lol awesome!!

  • Strange video wich I think doen't have much to do with the tune. Anyway, cool performance and song! Some cool juggling from Nigel Durham on drums replacing temporarily the other Nigel who was on GTR at the time. I Think this power ballad / AOR song represents one of their attempts to reach the North American market

  • Saxon plays.......bon jovi...blää...

  • LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • go on fasker....twat that T' fookin bass....haha...xx

  • go on fasker.......twat that t' bass.......xx

  • the great song of saxon....forever!!!!

  • Elég gyenge SAXON dal,de azért favorit!

  • This video was so ahead of the game.

  • why does the single mix not have the melody lead at the beginning?

  • badass

  • fireboltttt, me and you should make our own country--I've only met one girl who shares our ideals, but we can share her :)

  • Hugs Ewe

  • this remind me my school years

  • jus love this song.. cnt relate to ma story :-) lol

  • wasnt this from there most hated album? s'alright, its just not saxon

  • def leppard?

  • I love Def Leppard!

  • Indeed it sound a little like Whitsnake or Alice Cooper from that time! I prefer "Unleash the BEast" or "Boker Heroes" or things like that of Saxon, but this tune is nice to listen. But as I said it reminds me Whitesnake:)

  • BEAUTIFUL SONG HERMOSO HIT

  • i love this song, one of my favourites from saxon x

  • @ladindubz I also remember good times with this song.

  • I wish I was born in this Era, an Era where Rap, kids pop, teen rock and death metal didn't really exist.

An Era where music actually had a soul purpose. Unlike the mainstream crap u hear on the radio.

  • @fireboltttt u took the word right outta my mouth!

  • @fireboltttt not me. i'll take justin beiber, the jonas brothers and miley cyrus over this anyday

  • @fireboltttt Fuck that death metal still existed and has always been a music with soul don't put it together with rap and teen pop or any that other shit.

  • @fireboltttt whats wrong with death metal?

  • @freezingmoon999 it stinks

  • @stony060683 nope not rly lol death metal is good

  • @fireboltttt I hear you man, thats why i listen to Drew.FM Via Ipod. Heavy metal all the time!

  • @fireboltttt My words. Amen

  • @fireboltttt you and me both mate :-(

  • @fireboltttt did you mean to write soul instead of sole? cause if you did thats rad.

  • @fireboltttt what's yout problem with the death metal?/:) i listen to saxon, and death too

  • @fireboltttt Why are you putting Death Metal together with Rap, Kids Pop and Teen Rock?

It's a true subgenre of metal as well, and thus, must be respected even if you don't like it!

  • lol I love saxon. every song has to have 'the writings on the wall' or 'into the night' in it.

The new album if fuckin awsome btw, checkout hellcat.

  • I don't care if this song is totally against Saxon's style of music. Every hard rock band has melodic and touchy songs that are part of the soul of the music!

  • This was right when Whitesnake - another English metal/rock band - was hitting big in the United States. I believe their record company pressured SAXON to follow the same path to hopefully achieve the same success in America. But this is a great song and proves SAXON can write successfully in a surprising number of musical genres. Long live SAXON!!

  • Every band has a corny song at some point. This must've been a decision by a bad manager. Saxon should not sound like doctor's office music !!

  • this music was magic, unlike todays horrible shit

  • great drummer now in odsaxon

  • It was style back and then and I guess you did what the record companies did.

  • Comment removed

  • It's not just glam rock. It's a mixure of stuff going on in the decade that brought this fashion and music together. You may be a young chap so cant remember it.

Great times, great music ect. Btw im touching 60.

  • Pure Melodic Rock / AOR song ! Great !

  • NWOBHM saxon is one of they, Saxon the masters of lightning.

  • Love this song, my favourite Saxon song too!!

  • Typical '80s glam rock antics. Swinging your guitar around when it doesn't make any sense to do so.

Don't get me wrong, I think Saxon, is great. I actually even prefer the newer stuff...1990 and onward, but I can't believe they did the glam rock thing back then.

  • why shouldn't they do it ? Glam rules !!!

  • Well, Lincoln6Echo1, I still like the 80ies and the swinging guitars of glam rock (lol) - very nice song btw.

  • I love this song and the memories I have associated with it. :)

  • Jesus Christ, what were they doing with this shit. Whose idea was it to try and "americanise" this band (Biff) Begining of the end for one our greatest bands

  • Pure 80's, condensed into a 5 minute video.

  • only 50,000 views, this should have atleast 500,000

  • awesome!

  • i loveeeeeeee

  • Does anyone notice that this version is different to the album?

    Lee \m/

  • there are more synth parts than the track on the lp. maybe (i guess) in order to make it better suitable for the mtv/radio general audience.

  • I think Destiny (the album this came from) is their most melodic and personally I think they should have made Calm Before the Storm a single as well. I dunno why but whenever I'm depressed this tune cheers me up. And then I started screaming for Heavy Metal Thunddddaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

  • FODA!!melhor disco do Saxon!!o mais hard!! o/

  • Hell this is awesome! Saxon certainly beats the kecks of the greasy haired emo rubbish we have nowadays! God why did I have to be a bairn in the 80s!

  • The best song ever brings back childhood memories

  • The only Saxon song i like

  • excelente cancion y muy entretenido video solo le falto una chica linda

  • son buenos estos tios naci con su musiac creo que nunca les olvidare

  • Yes, indeed one of my favourite songs of Saxon, too!! Thank you very much for uploading!!!

  • such a sell out but at the same time, a good song. saxon even did good aor.

  • Se nota a leguas la calidad del rock de los 70´s, 80´s y 90´s.

  • Great !!

  • Another AOR song off this album is "Song for Emma" i love that song too!

  • AWESOME!

  • Surely in the Top 5 of the best AOR balldas ever...10/5 stars!!!

  • A really good AOR song from a heavy metal legend...

    RESPECT !!!
