Why aren't the women and children taken into account? 5000 is about the size of a Roman legion. If you were a political contender, you needed to show you could mobilize an army... and feed it!

i don't get it, you mean i am to believe 5000 people went off into the desert without food and expected to survive? My hunch is that they all had food and were hoarding it which is understandable, some losers who didn't come prepared began to complain and jesus asked who had food and only the young and naive boy came forward and offered up his food. To this jesus humiliated his followers by distributing these 5 breads and 2 fish, and fed the losers with the leftovers.
this happened right after about 500 people witnessed first hand Jesus healing a blind man, a man that had been blind since birth. They went into the desert based upon faith, and faith alone. It is no small wonder that you would'nt "get it".
Jesus asked questions, and when people asked him questions he didn't freak out, he answered to the best of his ability. I just question the bread and the fish story, i think jesus was awesome and we could all use him today but i guess if we didn't get his message then we won't do much better today.
The blind in the bible has nothing to do with the lack of physical sight. It has to do with understanding. You will also notice Jesus actually asks his disciples to do this first. If you believe the literal form of this story, what do you personally believe when Jesus says, "you can perform greater miracles than I". And if so, when was the last miracle that was better.
