Also, just to say... Christians (at least catholics) believe in Evolution. Genesis is just a story, it's not what really happened. Just a bunch of doctors giving up on a premature baby and telling us he had but a few days to live therefore telling us you might want to get him baptized now before he dies. So he was then BAPTIZED and we all prayed dilgently for his survival and doctors were speechless when we took him home three months later and hes turning 5 this november.

The doctor might have felt that there was almost no chance of survival in his prediction based on statistical data...but such tiny chance is exactly what is truly behind many "miracles".
No. It was a miracle because it wasnt just any doctor. it was SEVERAL doctors. not every doctor uses statistics and shit to determine the several of a premature baby with no developed lungs.
And he was born at five and a half months. When, as everyone knows, the normal birth time is nine. No doctor gave any hope for him. it was OUR PRAYERS, that saved his life.
Doctors in the USA define 24 weeks as the official cutoff time for using intensive care for saving a baby. 2 weeks earlier than that is certainly not common and giving hope is wrong; but the odds of survival is around 10% so your family was just simply very lucky.
Prayers have no influence on any health condition. Even the largest study ever done of 1800 heart patients in the USA receiving prayers actually resulted in a slight negative conclusion (those prayed for got worse).
Luck is about statistics. The reason a premature baby has statistically higher chance of surviving in good healthy condition at earlier age today than 100 years ago is because of much better facilities. Sure your family was lucky.
And luck is when something unexpected happens that has a low statistical chance of happening...have you ever been to Las Vegas?
It must have been a very tough experience for your family that is admirable. Every baby is special but this is extra special.
What happened to the miracle baby of our family was and is not luck. You put your knowledge and gift of debate into luck, when luck is just as complex and far-stretched as God.
A miracle is something that can find no natural explanation. A premature baby surviving is not a miracle and there is absolutely nothing indicating that having faith increases the survival rate of premature babies. In fact no faith seem to have any influence on any medical condition. In fact, contrary to what should be the case if God was real, Japanese people tend to live longer with better health than Christians. Of course food matters a lot more than imaginary things like religion :-)

If they stopped all modern life supporting means of nutrition, temperature control, humidity control, oxygene etc. for months and the baby still survived I would agree something very strange had happened.

The doctors kept him at the same temperature in the incubator yes. But there was no other supplements given to try to preserve life. They told us there was nothing left they could do and it would be a miracle for him to survive. I have went over this before.
He is a miracle. And i highly doubt anything you say could prove me otherwise, because of the fact you have not lived through the tramatic experience.
I'm certainly not questioning the trauma of this experience.
But a true miracle is something that would not happen naturally.
Premature babies born that early look very vulnerable and can easily get sick incl. getting infections but will survive due to natural reasons with a certain statistics. In 50 years from now I bet the ratio is much closer to 100% at that age due to improvements in care techniques.
What happened with him was not natural. It was special and he is to this day special. As I clearly stated, you can not prove me otherwise that he was and remains to this day a miracle.

Also, just to say... Christians (at least catholics) believe in Evolution. Genesis is just a story, it's not what really happened. We, Christians, know that Evolution made us evolve from monkeys, but how did the Evolution started and spreaded? Our theory and faith is that God created Evolution. Well, Galatians 5:14, actually says "LOVE" your neighbor, and neighbor means ALL, (neighbor country, neighbor person, neighbor at work, neighbor on the streets, etc.), and if do not state race and religion is because it is IMPLICITLY no matter race, religion, colour, nation, power. etc.

In the ideal world, humans can choose in which religion they believe.
Reality is that we humans aren't all that smart when it comes to actually resisting religious brainwashing.
Just look at entire nations. It would be fair to say that people in e.g. Iran, China and Mexico have similar intelligence. Still the vast majority of people in these countries have totally different beliefs.

Just a bunch of doctors giving up on a premature baby and telling us he had but a few days to live therefore telling us you might want to get him baptized now before he dies. So he was then BAPTIZED and we all prayed dilgently for his survival and doctors were speechless when we took him home three months later and hes turning 5 this november.
Thats phyics right? No medical aid at all and he survived right? A little baby. Not even a normal developed baby

I'm really sorry to disappoint you. Actually when it comes to survival rate of premature babies several factors play a role including the genes of the baby and the environmental stress and care. The doctor might have felt that there was almost no chance of survival in his prediction based on statistical data...but such tiny chance is exactly what is truly behind many "miracles".

No. It was a miracle because it wasnt just any doctor. it was SEVERAL doctors. not every doctor uses statistics and shit to determine the several of a premature baby with no developed lungs.
And he was born at five and a half months. When, as everyone knows, the normal birth time is nine. No doctor gave any hope for him. it was OUR PRAYERS, that saved his life.

Doctors in the USA define 24 weeks as the official cutoff time for using intensive care for saving a baby. 2 weeks earlier than that is certainly not common and giving hope is wrong; but the odds of survival is around 10% so your family was just simply very lucky.
Prayers have no influence on any health condition. Even the largest study ever done of 1800 heart patients in the USA receiving prayers actually resulted in a slight negative conclusion (those prayed for got worse).

Luck is about statistics. The reason a premature baby has statistically higher chance of surviving in good healthy condition at earlier age today than 100 years ago is because of much better facilities. Sure your family was lucky.

A miracle is something that can find no natural explanation. A premature baby surviving is not a miracle and there is absolutely nothing indicating that having faith increases the survival rate of premature babies. In fact no faith seem to have any influence on any medical condition. In fact, contrary to what should be the case if God was real, Japanese people tend to live longer with better health than Christians. Of course food matters a lot more than imaginary things like religion :-)

By going to a Catholic school my whole life, I realized my faith rests in God. And I know he is real, because i FEEL him within me. Thats the only explanation I need.
The baby's survival had no natural explanation. Which is why the doctors considered him a miracle.

The doctors kept him at the same temperature in the incubator yes. But there was no other supplements given to try to preserve life. They told us there was nothing left they could do and it would be a miracle for him to survive. I have went over this before.
He is a miracle. And i highly doubt anything you say could prove me otherwise, because of the fact you have not lived through the tramatic experience.

But a true miracle is something that would not happen naturally.
Premature babies born that early look very vulnerable and can easily get sick incl. getting infections but will survive due to natural reasons with a certain statistics. In 50 years from now I bet the ratio is much closer to 100% at that age due to improvements in care techniques.

Now, I'm not one to post petty comments, but isn't one's worship of God simply chosen by one's cultural and societal preference and upbringing?
I've read many a religious text, and I've come to the conclusion that the various myriad of sacred dogmas are one in the same at their root, but with various differences as bred by cultural and societal influences.
I know the Golden Rule by heart; why not follow the base guideline alone and discard the chaff that accompanies it?
