  • I don't really care for the back beats actually singing. I feel like they're type of group is common, but I do enjoy they're arrangements.

  • This is a great arrangement. . . . .only us "acappella heads" would understand!!!" Rock on Backbeats!!!!!!

  • kinda boring..........

  • Somewhat unrelated, but show has taught me two things: 1) Women can never wear too many accessories, and 2) Vests and sweaters on men are highly underrated

  • BackBeats for the win!! :)

  • that little dude has some great pipes..!

  • this is amazing!

  • I LOVE COURTNEY!!!!!!

  • that dude's like an asian clay aiken

  • kenton is a beast

  • I swear I can listen to this song all day long..

  • i love kentons part wow! can't stop replaying it

  • asian boi got swag

  • they suck

  • Comment removed

  • @Andwrightrocks lol they don't even come close to sucking. They were the best group on here. But i believe by far this was their worse performance. They are actually INCREDIBLE but look at another one of ver performances.

  • i hate her facial expressions.

  • The black lead singer from this group is cold!

  • committed was ok but they deserved to win...and courtney was the bomb !!!

  • Why they go home again ... judges were idiots for that -_- ...personally the 2nd season for me sucks its nothing compared to the voices that were onthe first season

  • It would sound way better if the guy was singing it himself, the girl was flat imo

  • @l2dforever did you really think phenomenal was spelled like that?!

  • They were amazing!

  • 1:40 GO KENTON!!!!

  • This group is blessed with the touch of all the angels in Heaven

  • I don't even like the original/K Perry version of this song... but I can listen to this over and over again...

  • omg kenton is so freaking cute in this !!!!!!

  • What is all over the floor?

  • they are so flattttt!

  • This song has an amazing build-up, and they kinda changed and lost that... But still... I got the chills

  • The only performance I liked from this group.

  • the male lead singer has nothing on the female singer, she is awesome!!

  • there's so dang many of them.

  • they did nothing but slow songs? You give love a bad name and love shack are slow and emotional..lady gaga was slow and emotional?

  • @galadriel1320 yahh cuz love shack is soooo emotional

  • i like their sound, however all of the songs they picked were "emotional": and did not have a upbeat feel to them, they were all slow and although that allowed us to hear them very well, it was boring and would not be interesting for a recording

  • @galadriel1320 Emotional is boring?? WTH? What point if there's no emotion?

  • @galadriel1320 I think the emotional sound was MUCH better. They strayed far too much from it with things like Lada Gaga and Love Shack.

  • @krisp8888 I agree... the emotional sound is better for them!!

  • Better than the Katy Perry version. Kenton was awesome here. Love it!

  • SK3LATON, i TOTALLY agree. he has a bit of soul that you wouldn't expect, and a really good voice!

  • 1:38 . <3

  • @1:39

    omgg.. so ahh!

    hes such a beast

  • ABSOLULTY AMAZING! the beat boxer is fenaminal and the vocals amazing :)

  • I think you mean Phenomenal.

  • I was a die hard fan of Committed, but if Kenton sang earlier in the competition. They might have had a much stronger chance. PHENOMENAL VOICE :)

  • @ErrinnRaee

Kenton really did come alive toward the end of the season

  • Have they released any album yet?

  • I liked Street Corner Syphony a little better but The Backbeats are still really good!

  • Kenton chen= Gerogous!!

  • Kenton Chen?

    Psh. More then amazing voice.

  • "Just oooooown the *NI-IGHT*... "

    Wooo! Get it, Kenton!

  • I will repeat Nicole(?)'s comment: Why did we have to wait this long to hear Kenton sing? :P

  • you should be able to put youtube videos like this on repeat!!! lol

  • @ademafan23 You obviously haven't learned to appreciate all music.

  • @DefineEternityI dont appreciate all music. Though I do appreciate quite the variety (Screamo, Alternative, Opera, Acoustic, Folk, Celtic, Pop) I dont like everything (country). The truth is, I said that I thought they were a pretty good group. I just said that I didnt like this particular version of the song. But I praised the two singers. What do I need to learn exactly? Do you like the hardcore genre of music? People have their different tastes. I happen to like acapella, just not this song.

  • i love love love their outfits

  • I cant stop watching this!

  • This is better than the original. These guys are amazing. :)

  • Kenton is phenomenally versatile!!!

  • Best performace ever!!!

  • This is what I call Acapella

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • At 0:28 holy shit that sounds like an actual bass.

  • 1:22 and on is the best part. The beatboxing should have been louder. That's the only part where you can hear it.

  • this is horrible

  • Kenton was amazing :) -Katie

  • Joanna is amazingly beautiful..

  • Not to call anyone out, but OMG, we needed Kenton as a balance to Joanna earlier in the competition. The Asian girl was not the right 2nd lead - totally should have been Kenton!

  • @iheartpets you're so absolutely correct !!! She had great attitude and sass but just not the voice to go along with it

  • Is Kenton a counter tenor, or does he just have a very strong falsetto? I can't tell. Anyways, I really enjoyed this.

  • @Collassi678 based on his breathier tone, id say hes a very talented tenor with a strong falsetto. i feel that if he were a contra tenor, the backbeats would have (or should have?) highlighted such a unique talent.

  • Catherine and Kenton should have switched mics...I can hear hear Ahh Ahh Ahhhhhh's way too much.

  • I was really moved by this performance. Classy arrangement that gives the leads room to be expressive, but the ensemble still shines through with warmth. I'm impressed that this came together so successfully in a LIVE performance...that shows true TALENT! Far better than the overproduced Katy Perry studio recording.

  • I am VERY disappointed by this performance. I feel like they really held back when they could have done something pretty amazing with this. With that being said, I do think that this is the group that SHOULD have won. Speaking from a music theory background, they are the most solid of all the groups, and they have the nicest sound, blend, and intonation. However, this performance fell short.

  • @sucemabiteconnasse Idk about all that man, Committed was on another level harmonicly, the backbeats had tight blend but not the toughest music ever. The compositions are well done, but I would say that all the things you've said about the backbeats should be said about Committed.

  • @iejr Not the toughest music ever? Really? If you listen to it with stero, and only listen to the background people, there is a lot of crap going on that adds to it that you don't even realize at first. The Backbeats did a huge variety of songs, while all of Committed's were essentially from the same genre pop/rap and were made in the exact same style. When they were forced to do anything else like rock, Committed fell on their face.

  • @xlmeay I understand the complexity of the arrangements, but there is no question that committed's music was more harmonically difficult.

  • I like when they show Catherine going, "Na na, na na, na na, na na," like she's singing the Batman theme. :P

  • If they performed this BEFORE the finale they would've won. No actually, If Kenton got more leads they wouldve won, they wait until the last minute to let Kenton shine. I love the Backbeats, but seriously, They just snubbed Kenton the whole season. ;/

  • @DunkyTheEevee don't forget he was the leader . I'm sure he had a huge say in who sang what , if they were in season 1 I feel they would have beat nota and the bubz (Medford tufts guy myself) . But season two with Committed no one else was going to win they are the second coming of boys II men . So im proud of the backbeats and will buy whatever they put out for a CD . Im sure someone will pick them up.

  • @wickedpissa318 i'm sure they'd beat nota and the bubz too. i'd buy there cd too, thanks for your comment.

  • that chinese nigga was killin it!! somethin like a chinese usher

  • that chinese nigga was killin it!!

  • @ErrinnRaee yea! he has some soul in his voice! I wouldn't have known just by looking lol

  • Is it me, or do they remind me sooooooo much of GLEE ?

  • umm didn't they get teh lyrics wrong? or am i just stupid

  • I love how Kenton kinda drops the tune to ass effect. I love his voice.

  • I really do hope some record company is smart enough to get them signed and not get in their way (meaning let them continue to do their own arrangements). An album of covers, Backbeats style, would be really nice.

  • This group made it to the final? And the Whiffenpoofs didn't? WTF?

  • they killed it the whole show. in glad that committed won... but i wanted backbeats to win. they had the consistency that committed didn't have.

  • Backbeats are my favorite this season though. Can't fault them for crummy sound techs.

  • I don't know who ran sound for this one, but they should be fired. Background vocals are set too high and that's why you can't hear Kenan that well. The leads are supposed to be set higher than the background...background is meant for support. I don't blame Joanna for being louder than Kenan either, cause they could've turned his mic up more.

  • I want more Backbeats! They are awesome. Goosebumps every time I hear them. They should have a CD.

  • Kenton is amazing.

That asian girl kills me though. Even when she's not ruining a solo she's doing her best to make the sop 2 line succkkkk

  • that one girl looks like bieber!

  • i love Kenton loves at 1:38

  • KENTON :)) he should've sang lead the whole time.

  • @illestgyal But he set the arrangement up to feature himself by playing against Joanna. That moment that everyone loves at around 1:38 wouldn't have been nearly as effective if he'd sung lead the entire song. He's also very clever at putting himself in the spotlight by being the leader and almost *never* putting himself in the spotlight. Then when he does step out, you go, "Wow, what a nice voice!" He knew what he was doing all along.

  • I would've liked this better if it was Kenton by himself. She kind of overpowered his voice, and it wasn't as good as it could've been! :$

  • @ohsohipster As others have mentioned, I don't think Joanna intended to overpower Kenton; the microphones were poorly balanced.

  • I hope they stay together..I hope somebody sign them so they can get an album out..They have a lot of fans..Backbeats Rules

  • it is just me or a great bass in this group wouldve made them way better.

  • @cubsfanatic1 Can't say I noticed it on any of their other pieces, but this one seems to have intonation problems in the bass, for sure. Nonetheless, and mic level problems notwithstanding, I like this arrangement and I like the Backbeats. The last chord is exquisite. They get written off a lot for being "cute" but their arrangements were consistently the most expansive of the field, even if Committed was legitimately superior.

  • awesome way to slow it down in the beginning and then picking it up later on. Great reindition Backbeats of "Firework"!

  • I love them as a group. They always make magical arrangements. I'm hoping that even though they were only put together for this competition that they stay together and make great music afterwards :).

  • @Skiiohru agree :) all of their performances are so cute :)

  • Love ittt <3

  • These guys were so good.
