gohrman is right. Perec ran close to Koch's times: 48.25 (perec) versus Koch's 47.60, 48.16, 48.16, 48.22 and 48.26, and many other more times below 49.00. The difference is that Koch was much more consistent than perec below 49.00, and Koch ran below 49.00 in 1979, 1980, 1982, 1984, 1985 and 1986. Perec ran below 49.00 only twice: 48.83 and 48.25. All this makes me think that the most suspicoius of being doped is Perec. Koch's career was both consistent and long.

Perec ran close to Koch's times because the Atlanta track didnt meet IAAF standards for "compliance". The track was too hard and therefore assisted sprinters too much. Thats why the sprints were so fast in those games. She was clean!

There are only 2 plublicly positives on steroids in GDR athletes history (Marlies Görh and Illona Slupianek) however all of us have no doubts they all were on drugs. Kersees athelets ran the same times than Görh, Dreschler and Krabbe but they were clean...Why?

First off, how does one "prove" that they didn't cheat? What, you want play-by-play accounts of their training and diet? And when it came to the athletes of the GDR at least we had the Stasi documents that pretty much listed the athletes who were doping. And just cause other athletes ran similar times as the druggies doesn't mean they are tainted. the men's 100wr is 9.72. Ben Johnson's time was 9.79. It's possible to run fast without drugs.

Sorry Gail is linked to Bob Keerse, Jackie, Flo, Pam, Val etc... he share info with Charlie Francis, He was her coach, she withdrew unexplicably from the world championship hurdles race when they found out about new testing for drugs. Many have mention Gail's fight with graves, but many other athletes used other ailments as excuse for their drug taking, and USTA have been covering for dirty athletes for years, she is suspect to say the least.

Perec's highest accomplishments can't be linked to her East german coach: She began working with him in 2000, long after her glory years.

Freeman admitted to long term use of a wide variety of supplements and an inhalant but nothing on the banned list.
