Excellent dancing. I think you can extend your hands further, and make demarcations between the steps less apparent. But really a treat to watch.

Beautiful dance. I actually like this kind of costume more in kathak (the salwar) on both men and women. The ghagra (or whatever is it called) makes it very difficult to look at the foot movements and they have to employ their hands to lift the veil from over their feet for slight demonstration.

towards the end, your expressions were beautiful. in the beginning, though there are no words being said, those movements have a meaning to them. Show the audience your understanding of that short piece through your expressions and movements. if u have a smile on your face, the audience will automatically have a smile on their faces too.

being a kathak dancer i will only like you to know that you should make your movements more sharp.

Also, being in the audience, i will like to tell you to use facial expressions. It gets the audiences attention. Before understanding your dance, the audience first looks at the performer to see how much he is enjoying his dance and how much effort is being put.

" kabiraltaf " as i read ur comment on my other vdo that u hav studied classical music , keep an eye on classical Dance as well . only those people who donot know abt this art consider it as a feminine art, which a wrong concept . Kathak consists of Lasya (female style) and tandav (male style) . For a male or female dancer its very imporatnt to master both styles. Its lack of knowledge that ppl consider it for males or females only !!

you are right. that's why it is important to educate people about our classical traditions. the more they are exposed to it, the more they weill realize the beauty and skill that it takes to perform, and that it is not particular to either gender :)

they even dont admit it that kathak is a part of our culture .

They says MuZic is haram but they dont reply when i ask them if it is haram then Y Baba bulhy shah danced 12 years for his murshad, why Hazrat ameer khusro Danced through his words?n he invented tabla !! Why BABA shah Jamal danced ?

Why rumi and his whirling dervaishes whirled on Drums beat ?

Tehy dont want to listen and we cant stop our feet :)

have u seen "khuda ke liye"? there's a scene when the good maulvi (naseeruddin shah) is trying to tell people that music is not haraam, and he says that just as the other prophets were given holy texts, Hazrat Daud (David) was given the Psalms, which are songs... so music is not haraam... there should be a movie like that for dance too:)

So the same thing will b happen for dance even more worse

They can bear nargis's thumkas but cant bear kathak !!

The closeness of my arms was bcoz i just started dose hastaks at dat time

plus i never performed with these ankelbells

but i am quite easy with these both things now

not bad.But you should really not close your lines, you have wonderful long arms, don't be afraid to give nice long extensions,long extensions impart more of your soul. One can understand that in Pakistan being a male kathak dancer can be difficult, but don't let that influence your dance,when you are dancing, no one should be with you except the dance,You are talented and can be better than you are, don't be afraid to give yourself completely when you are performing.Shabaash and jeetay raho.
