The venom colors have changed in the comics over the years there are some that are a dark blue and even purple. But you kinda have to admit the third movie wasn't the greatest so I guess you kinda had to expect the toys to suck but if you knew you wouldn't like the toys why buy them ....meh....

These figures actually got Remade into a bigger scale size. They are part of a Spider-Man 3 Build-a-Figure Set.

It comes with Spider-Man, Black Suit Spider-Man, Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Venom, New Goblin, and Mary Jane from Spider-Man 2. They all come with a piece to build a larger Sandman figure in sand form.

Ok, 1st off, Symbiotes are "Symbioty black", they're not just BLACK. They look kinda rubberish and the have purple tints. If you look at a symbiote and the sun's shinning on it, it will look a bit purple. Not all purple, but a bit purple.

The Venom figure was painted purple so parents could tell them apart when they went to go buy them for their kids when their kids weren't with them.

They also made the figures smaller to save money. When the price of oil goes up the cost to make figures goes up. Of course they don't lower the retail price accordingly, 'cuz parents don't know any better.
