I am currently updating the Website will all lyrics written by Johnny, but I'll post these. Again, apologies for the delay. Johnny 1st called this tune 'The Town I Left Behind'. Now he calls it Banagher and I reckon thats a good enough title also:
And sometimes when I'm lonesome, I think of where I'm from.
On Cuba Street, where old friends meet, the Shannon where we swam.
And I can see that old bog road, with turf piled to the sky
Oh Banagher you'll be my town until the day I die.
Thanks Accordionman. I absolutely love this tune. and the fact that its so personal to Johnny means more. I was lucky enough to put Johnnys website together and I had to take some snaps at a few gigs. But I used my camers to viseo this. Not great quality but the quality is all in the bloke on stage. Take Care,
Lucky you, cousins! All of Johnny songs are a pleasure to hear.

The name Lunham is wrong. The correct spelling is Loonam. Ask Johnny about all the time he spent in their kitchen on Main St.

Where can we get lyrics for this? Shy of listinging and typing anew...

Agai I walked the Lusmagh fields, where often I did stray
And once again I saw old friends, the friends of yesterday
The Dolans and the Lunhams, the Mallons and the Ryans
What memories these evoke, of far off happy times.
And 'round the town I wandered, I knew my way so well
And when I saw the old sports field, where first I learned to hurl
I heard the curlews lonesome call across the callows still
And watched the crows fly 'round the ruins of Wallers' falling mill

But now I'm in St. Louis, it's here I've made my home
I've watched my life drift slowly by, I've seen my children grown
And though this land's been good to me and happiness I've found
Just one more time I'd love to see The town I left behind
Chorus and repeat last two lines.

Right so. That came out Arse About Face.
I'll have them up correctly ASAP on the Website. but Start from the bottom Up. 'And sometimes when I'm lonesome.....' is the Chorus ;-)
