  • i would feel so god damn bad if i was the guy who shot down the dude who lost his parachute. its one thing to put a bullet in somebody and kill them fast, but knowing that that guy fell so far to the ground. fuck that.

  • wow, the guns were so innacurate

  • GREATEST. GENERATION. EVER.

  • Wow that would suck to lose your parachute while ditching

  • This is such a view of WW2. You are seeing people die, what men had to sacrifice for the rest of us. This should be required viewing in schools.

  • so which is more skillful to pilot?

the ww2 planes with their simple push the red button fire the mg and missiles...

or the complex electronic tracking systems at Mach 4 of todays fighter jets?

  • This is such a great compilation of footage, speeches & music... very touching & moving stuff. Makes me think of what my Grandfather must have gone through. War is hell. Thank you for making this.

  • Feeooowee. I DO love seeing this living motion film of real WWII history.

  • Thanks Captain! Well done, very moving...

  • The pilot @ 3:23 looks like he's trying to give that train the whole nine yards in one pass...Amazing!

  • screw the 4 people who dont like this vid

  • zen

  • will never forget

  • amazing time with a amazing generation....

    Scott Roberts

  • Excelente video, además la música acompaña mucho a las imágenes. Cuanta heroicidad y sacrificio por ambas partes...

  • So much good people were lost, both Germans, and Russian and Americans and British and Italians and many others...

  • Here`s the proof: before a chorus of angels there is Churchill speaking as well as Hitler...so they are both in the Heavens! So God didnt think Hitler was such a bad guy after all.

  • An excellent video. I'm quite the admirer of your work, Captain Quinn.

  • thought i had seen all ww2 air combat footage. I was wrong. This is one of the best I have ever seen. Eerily amazing. Thank you.

  • @SmrtJugoslaviji

Yes, but it was after a tail strike and he was probably already dead from trauma before his harness was ripped from his body. War is nasty business and his death was quick compared to many who suffered slow and agonizing deaths on the battlefield.

You'd think we'd as humans learn a lesson from our history but obviously not. We're not happy unless we're killing someone, somewhere...

  • Well done...reminds us all of the bravery, sadness, waste and sheer dreadfulness of all wars.

  • *sniffle....wipes tear from eye*. Great video Cap'n Quinn and thanks for posting.....the heart heart-rendingly beautiful music really complements Winnies great speech. Powerful stuff.

Forever in the debt of those who served, and gave their all.

  • What happens at 1:26? Is the pilot hooked outside the plane while it's still taking hits? These men bailing out raised my standards of fascination for their courage tonight.

  • @coltom Sure like them Jugs myself.

  • The best group of youtube users I've seen. Everyone makes great comments. Without one trace of the pointless arguments I see on every other video out there. Thank you all!

  • Sorry to post again, but I have to agree and say this is the most moving video I've ever watched as well!

  • 1:30 saw this footage studied on discovery and explains(though its pretty obvious i guess) as he bails the harness arrangement comes free and he falls to earth. gutted eh.

  • Mustang at 2:05 almost got it from his buddy!

  • death can be beautyful only if it's not your own.

  • Very moving and very well put together. That poor guy loosing his chute at 1:40 is quite haunting :(

  • you can get a fw109 down with 3 50 cal bullets in the ricgt wing at the cockpit side

  • Viva la Germany !

  • This is the most moving video I've ever watched.

  • thank you.

  • @CAPTAINQUINN

    Stunning video, Captain.

The footage and soundtrack are so moving.

One of the best, most evocative things on YouTube.

    Thank you.

  • @CAPTAINQUINN Thank you as well.

  • @gamer025 Nice comment! ! ! My grandfather flew p-51's over there during that chaos. I had nothing but chills and tears watching this.

  • Schrecklich!

  • very impresive, combination of feeling, doubt, ungry and finally saddnes.

  • Ahh, to be a WWII pilot..

  • did u notice a smoke like a mini explsoion at 2 30 in the left corner of the tracers? i have a question is the convercence so tight that maybe cause the projectals to hit each other? causing a mini exlosion?

  • i guess that was an AAA projectile

  • i don0t think so..

  • well i do, =) im 90% sure that it is

  • its the bullets hitting each other, u see it in lots of gun cam footage..

  • i would trust you if I wouldnt see AAA defense before , so its my opinion

  • fair enough brother.

  • @ysydor18 im pretty sure your right its two outgoing rounds colliding or possibly some kind of explosive or incendiary round failing. ive seen it on other vids where definatly no ground fire coming up.

  • @agentolshki i think the fault is the convergion on the guns the trajectory was somthing like a X

  • 5*****

  • This is the 2nd most moving (modern) piece I've heard......PLEASE listen to Brian Eno's composition "an ending (ascent)"

    THE BEST EVER

Brian Eno is one of those guys I rank up there with the Beethovens of the world...his ideas and musical ability are unmatched like the greats in music history.....youtube it...you'll thank me later

  • Sameul Barber did it initially....this obviously has some other elements to it such as Churchhill....this version s amazing....I've heard electronic versions that are great such as DJ Tiesto's version....so great

  • Nice adagio for strings in the background

  • epic video, the shear scale of ww2 is mind boggling and the air supremacy held by the allies at the end of the war led to germanys and japans ultimate defeat, great guncam footage...

  • That was something else, so well put together, the music and the speech at the start really make it hit you a little harder. Well done.

  • thank you.

  • at 1:53 the pilot is trigering the camera and fireing to miss.

  • That is great honor, even though he is just confirming his kill, he could of destroyed that plane and pilot. Everyone is human.

  • What a beautiful plane - together with the DC3 (Dakota in the UK and South Africa)the best!

  • i think my favorite sceen of this film is 1:52.

fireing not to kill but to trigger the gun cam.

  • Did he loose his Parachute @ 1:40 ??

I have seen so many guncam footage, but in this vid there is a lot stuff i never seen before

  • 1:40. i think he did. my heart skips a beat each time i view that footage. thank you. i have two more reels to convert to digital. subscribe.

  • poor bastard at 1:40

  • that one freaked me out too. just watched it again and my heart sikpped a beat.

  • I would love to download this...it is that good.

Very well done, and your choice of music is superb, written by Samuel Barber and the orchestral version (conducted by Georges Delerue) used in the movie Platoon.

I have not heard the vocal version of Adagio for Strings but it is great with this film.

  • Download this (and every) video using for e.g. RealPlayer...

  • Very powerful with the music and speeches.

  • Wow, that was some cool footage. The kill @ 0:18secs reminds me of IL2 when you climb under a bogey that does not realize how much energy you are retaining, and tries to climb over you, but fails. The strafing run on the train at 3:10 is also very similar to IL2. Many times I've made a run like that and strafed down the length of the train. I tell ya, after watching that video, Oleg sure did get some things very correct in the IL2 series. Other things, not-so-correct. ;)

  • Actually, the strafing run on the length of the train happens at 3:06.

  • Those poor guys hitting their upper stabs while trying to get out.

    :/

  • "Jäger-Bomber"

  • Good compilation captain!! Music and leaders speeches in the backgound have a striking effect!
