  • Don Kirkpatrick is on piano with Manzie Johnson, drms, Pops Foster bs., Sidney de paris tpt., Jimmey Archie tbm., and of course my favorite NO musician Sidney Bechet ss.

  • Trumpet is Sidney de Paris, obviously, not Jonah Jones. But who' s playing this fine piano?

  • This is sexy, I can't believe I"m just now finding about about this guy! x3

  • @thesingerperson So am I and I am ashamed at my self! He is great

  • @magoulianitissa lol, the best things are hard to find sometimes :3 and other times we are too blind to see them.

  • but it's just marvellous

  • I want to dance....

  • Outstanding, thanks for the post.

  • I'm here because I am a fan of great music! Hey! We don't have to to choose. Let's enjoy all great musicians and and music. Life is wonderful!!

  • Trumpet by S. de Paris here on this one, obviously. Could you possibly post some with J.Jones, too?

  • he did two recording of this song. as good as this one is, the other one is far better.

  • This is immortal stuff. Bechet and De Paris are in the pantheon of great jazz musicians. Everything about this recording is perfect: the choruses, the solos, the tempo, the rhythm boys. Man, this is it, so far as I'm concerned!

  • Just brilliant !!! I love Louis but this is a whole different league

  • ohh mannnn, that's just . . . .

  • Oh man this cat can swing. Pret-ty, pret-ty, pret-ty.

  • Thanks to spotify jazz radio for letting me discover old treasure like this :)

  • tell me like it IS !

  • Great track play in my set now & again,

    dj el nino (ladyluckclub.co.uk)

  • No dislikes on a video! Finally!

  • I just love this song.

  • To all the people listening: Whether you realize it or not, you cannot remain still while you listen to the music of Sidney Bechet. Can't make that foot stop tapping, dammit!

  • love the part from 1:54 to 2:25. So nice

  • Sidney De Paris tp, Jimmy Archey tb, Sidney Bechet ss, Don Kirkpatrick p, Pops Foster b, Manzie Johnson dr.

  • Takes me back to the Central Plaza where Sidney performed this often. No one is better at Pure Dixieland.

  • Nothing quite like the clunk of a double bass, I can listen to this all night. You have great taste Lola. Be back later for more tunes !! Great meeting yer.

  • Ahhh. A misleading beginning. I first thought it was going to be a slow song, but it turned out not so. Wow!

  • j'aaaadoooore I looove

  • I have never heard anything by Bechet that didn't make me think that words are stupid, puny, useless.

    I melt.

  • This is proof that Louis Armstrong is over-rated. And I'm from Louisiana too... but Armstrong., as good as he was, he ain't got nothin' on Bechet!!!

  • @jnmshmacm it's hard to compare artists that play different instruments and style. From what I've read and seen on documenties (check out BBC iplayer) Armstrong is credited amongst other musicians as the creator of swing

  • @jnmshmacm Satchmo will never be over rated, and just because you're from Louisiana does not mean you're right.

  • @jnmshmacm I agree, but it's irrelevant. Both are amazing artists so let's just enjoy the sweet sweet jazz music.

  • Perfect.

  • Started learning Lindy Hop very recently. They played this tune and I was smitten.

  • Oh, how could this NOT make you want to get up and dance?!? A nice gentle Lindy to this or a sassy east coast swing- perfect dance music! Congrats on learning to Lindy- there are few things better! :)! And thanks to the OP for posting this!

  • in love dis sonqq !! i feels sarcastic but romantic :]

  • This does it for me. Ohhhhh Yes!!!

Could that Mr. Bechet blow that thing or what? Man the hair on the back o' my neck just stood up and took a bow. Solid.......like in "as a rock". academieswing I salute you.......Keep em' comin'.

  • Great one!!! Love it!!! Reminds me on sitting in a St. Louis Blues bar and asking you for a dance, 5 Stars!

  • Fabulous song! I love it, thanks for posting it! ;)

  • Thank you for sharing this classic which I have added to my "Playlist".

    58 performance.

  • Favorite all time

  • I think this is his best recording of his lifetime; even more than very significant

"Summertime", of which (the latter) he may the definitive version to this day, even over Billie Holiday or Artie Shaw. You SHOULD give this a listen; it's cryin' to be heard.
