  • Um Can anybody tell me witch Movie this is ? I have been looking for it

  • @Frozenflame3000 The movie is called Casualties of War.

  • Just to make sure bigatut2 doesn't accomplish his task of throwing the facts behind this movie down the memory hole, here they are:

  • @hopkins4545 Shortly after the medical team examined the girl's body, arrests were made in what the army has always referred to as "the incident on Hill 192."

First there was Sergeant Meserve. Then there was Corporal Clark, who stabbed the woman. Finally, there were the brothers, Rafe and Manuel, from San Antonio, Texas. Rafe and Manuel backed up Eriksson's story. They said they had only gone along with the rape to maintain harmony within the group.

    Meserve denied the killing..

  • @hopkins4545 Wow, I have really gotten under your skin, haven't I. When you start using my name in unrelated posts, it's a clear sign that this has become more about shutting me down than speaking the truth, because the truth is what it is. You are not more concerned about winning the argument than anything else. Well, your fears are misplaced. I actually have nothing more than a passing interest in this film. If this is a true story, then those guys should be punished. we agree. Now go play.

  • sean penn is marvelous

  • CLARK GOTTA WEAPON! CLARK GOTTA NIFE!

  • Intense acting by Sean Penn.

Call me stupid for asking, but is his accent a New Jersey or New York?

  • @jailbird1 Its actually a New York/Brooklyn accent.

  • john c reilly first movie

  • maybe he is queer hahaha

  • This is a weapon!

  • I love Sean Penn in this. He was amazing, his character was simply captivating.

  • This movie is great! And everyone gets a good satisfaction when Erickson smashes Clarkes face with a shovel but thtas later on in the movie

  • i love this scene. love sean penn as a young actor.

  • a body bag is a body bag. whos countin'?

  • awesome scene and perfect acting

  • Man this was my favorite scene in the whole movie!!!@ 0:13 "Motherfucka..motherfucka you think you standing up to me uh?!"

  • just keepin it real

  • erickson could have been killed for not going along with the rape and the killing of the girl.he was lucky he got chopperd back to base .because either clark or meserve would have shot him dead on the way back to base ,,some soldier like Fox's character in real life would have never made it back alive in that situation

  • this was a true story

  • No it wasn't.

  • yes it was. if you go back and look at the opening titles it clearly states that this is a true story " that was first reported by daniel lang in the new yorker in 1969." i also have seen that article

  • Actually, this film is based on a factual incident. That doesn't mean the events portrayed are true.

  • yea no doubt about that. i dont even think the characters' names are real. see i thought you were sayin the whole incident itself didnt happen

  • @bigdatut What is your pet fascination with this film? Are you feeling some sort of unconscious, hidden guilt about the horrendous results of the war system you support with such diseased enthusiasm--

This guy, bigdatut, is not true. Daniel Lang wrote a an ARTICLE published in the NEW YORK TIMES. It was leaked to him by the now anonymous "Errikson". Army officials refer to it as "Incident On Hill 192". The hill where they butchered this girl, finally. He'd excuse any army behavior.

  • @hopkins4545 Uh huh. This is a comment forum to discuss this film. I make comments, so I must have a "pet fascination" and "diseased enthusiasm". What gave it away? The only record of a person being tried for this crime was acquitted. Does that matter to you? I wasn't there, and neither were you, so who can say. Can I assume that you will be just as outraged by the true stories of attrocities committed by the Communist North? It's something like 100 to 1 in our favor. Or did you miss that fact?

  • @bigdatut You're lying. If you read the book (which you didn't, obviously) they were even suspicious of Errikson for a long time, assuming that he was trying to cover up his role in the crime by reporting it. They were each given 10 to 20 years and the U.S. military, having too much admiration for the platoon leader played by Sean Penn, let them all out with 2 years good behavior. I find it, frankly, diabolic that you're lying about this on purpose.

  • @hopkins4545 Well, by definition, if I am lying, then it has to be "on purpose" or else it's just a mistake. You keep saying "in the book" when I am saying "on the record". That's the difference. Anyone can write a book and say anything. Cite the record. But getting back to my previous question. Where is your outrage about the attrocities committed by the Viet Cong? Or are you ignoring that "on purpose"?

  • @fashizze perhaps but then you can't think that way cause they would have found out in the end and karma v=can be a real bitch if you had it coming.

  • ever heard of friendly fire it happens all the time in war .and fox's character seeing everything he saw and being against it he would have been K.I.A aka killed in action

  • @fashizze they can prove whether or not it really was friendly fire or not. You can't think that most of them were heartless bastards cause I know if they were ever found out they'd be fucked. They didn't give a shit about the girl but once they tried to kill a fellow white boy then the big brass did something right, go figure.Soldiers have a code and if I was in the army I wouldn't allow this corruption in my platoon. Fuck that, once you become a monster your just a target to me I'd kill

  • Such an underrated movie.

  • Yep it was totally overlooked because it wasn't the usual flavor-of-the-day bullshit. I don't claim this is real or not real but the idea of infantry soldiers run amok isn't entirely impossible. I imagine that sort of thing did happen sometimes and probably went unreported/undocumented.

  • well said

  • sean penn was very good in this movie because I hated him INTENSLY

  • @hillena interesting good comment

  • this film is on the level i meet cunts like this all the time

  • I don't know how much of this film is accurate and how much of it was manufactured by Hollywood. But even if the film is just REMOTELY accurate, it absolutely breaks my heart to think of what that poor girl must have gone through. I have never fought in a war and will be the first to admit I don't know what it's like. But no matter how dismal a situation is, it will never FORCE YOU to terrorize, rape and murder an innocent girl. These sick individuals have NO EXCUSE for what they did.

  • that meserve is a total freak

  • THAT´S A GOOD MOVIE; i like micheal j. fox & sea penn . Both are very good actors

  • Good movie, it shows the scared privates

    in an unjust war

  • awesome fucking movie and very under rated!

  • this film is only loosely based on the real life autrocity. if you want the real story, read the novel of the same name by daniel lang. there are countless differences in the novel compared to the hollywood dramatization.

  • 5 of my favourite actors all in one scene, and all in my all time favourite film....lucky me :)

  • This is a fantastic scene.

Not only do we see this in war, it's also very common in "real life" that some sick mooron gets the presidency of the group. So many are just following who evers speaking loudest, like a flock of cowards.

Takes a real man to step up.

  • You know what I want? I wanna see Fox hit more people with shovels. Was honestly the part of the movie I liked most.

  • such a piece of shit!!

this is unbeliveable that this has realy happend...

  • diaz is a pussy

  • piece*

  • sean penn's a great actor in this movie bad guy good guy still a great actor.

  • this is a great job of acting by Sean Penn, you can dislike who he is but it is an outstanding job of acting..."mother fucker....."

  • Compare old Sean Penn to the new Sean Penn. Oh well, I still love him either way!

  • Sean Penn should have won an oscar for his acting! Great movie! Great actors!

  • Man i cant beleive that this guy (Sean Penn) is the same guy from the movie *Bad Boys*.... Hes changed alot from that to this:O

  • michael j fox is so hot when he is serious.

I love when my favroite actors are playing the good guy

  • All these actors are great. Sean Penn is like a great war movie actor in most of them.

Michael J. Fox said that this is one of the most compelling story he ever read.

Cap'nt Dale Dye was actually involved in this movie.

  • Pvt. Diaz was a PUNK BITCH!

  • I was talking about this in another clip. Pvt. Diaz is a product of mob menality, something that people are highly suspectible to. More then we're willing to admit. BUT he still had the option of doing the right thing and didn't. Therefore he paid for his crimes in the end.

  • Would you STOP LOOKIN' at DIEZ!!!?

  • Comment removed

  • Erm don't generalise a few morons from Vietnam to the good work our boys are doing in the middle east. Remember this is a MOVIE

  • Penn and Fox hated each other while they were making this film, SP likes to get into character fulltime - he must have been a bit touchy to work with...

Great clip - Penn is best actor working these last 20 years

  • how is it tha Penn didn't get nominated for this role?

  • Penn is now a 2X Academy Awards Best Actor he won in 2003, and 2009.

  • first on screen role

  • I was completely surprised that this is the same Sean Penn on 'I am Sam'. I thought his face look familiar when I saw this (I didn't see the casts name yet). I went on Wikipedia and look what I found out. :) What a good actor.

  • Penn has the accent right on!

  • did sean penn get an oscar for this? man haven't seen a thrilling acting like this many times..amazing...disgusting...

  • lol of course fuckin Diaz (John Leguizamo) don't got a problem hes just happy he got an acting job...

  • John Leguizamo is a fag in this he gave ericson his word and he backed down pussy

  • @DannyJamesRead

Do you realize you sound just like the "evil" soldiers?

  • sushiboi u r disgusting stop dis pls... bye.

  • HAHAHA Penn is an f'n madman.

  • Mr. Penn sounds like a mobster who camed stright out of Hell's Kitchen!

  • I think Sean Penn plays the role awesome, its a great movie and its really heartfelt, great movie!!

  • I can't stand Sean Penn's character in this film. Notice how he always forces the other soldiers to do the dirty work for him? Pure evil.

  • @Saranm25

Not really. He is being directly confrontational in this scene and is for most of the film, The only thing he really dosen't do himself is kill her. I think the reason is he was not pure evil, Clark was. Penn's character was a man who lost some of his humanity in war, and thats why he did the horrible things he did, but he still could not commit cold blooded murder.

That is the duality of war, men doing horrible things and being called heros. How much until you snap?

  • @Saranm25 Yeah but you gotta give it to Sean Penn because he played the hell out of that part he should of got an academy award, seriously

  • pervert

  • Great acting....
