Raul Malo WAS the Mavericks. A totally beautiful voice. However, I still prefer the Hollies version. Raul really shines on "Oh What a Crying Shame"!

Both are very good, but for a real treat check out the original recording of this song by Phil Everly. His version was very good and was what the Hollies replicated essentially. His version was produced by Warren Zevon.

The Phil Everly album, "Star Spangled Springer" was produced by Duane Eddy.

Duane found the song "The Air That I Breathe" which was written by Albert Hammond and Mike Hazelwood., and knew it would be a perfect choice for Phil.

A few years later, The Hollies thanked Duane for discovering this beautiful song, which was such a huge hit for them.

Not to leave this out, Warren Zevon did some arranging on that album.
