I don't think Aaron ever got to depth with Wii Music. I'm not going to be critical of his opinion, because I think he's honest and fair. I do appreciate that clarity among so much Comic Book Guy snobery from videogame critics.

But I'm very curious to know what he'd think of some of the videos we've created. Wii Music is a True Music game about improvisation and band dynamics, and there's a tremendous amount of depth. The music program is highly sophisticated and deep.

Up for a 2nd opinion?

this game is pretty entertaining for me haha. well maybe it's just because i major in orchestra and jazz music but i think it takes more skill than games like rock band or guitar hero...or at least more artistic imput, because you can compose your own pieces and whatnot. like i said not everyone has to or should agree with me i'm just stating that i really liked the game.

I dunno... I'm 38 and I've had a lot of fun with it. And I do have some musical background in theory and piano... not that I'm a professional or anything. I think it's really up to the person... I mean I can't see a virtuoso playing Guitar Hero OR this game... but I never learned to improvises so I find this kinda fun... but it's not like playing an instrument.

Yeah, I guess. I just, as a 14 year old, don't find it that entertaining. I guess because I've played so many war, bloody games in my life, that I don't find intrest in that. I guess that I wold if i didn't play so many terrible games. lol. That and my attention span is about 4 seconds...

Well, this game does take patience. There are some nights where I just give up on it then the next night something just clicks for some reason. Anyway, don't get me wrong, I like action games too... right now half my time is on Bioshock but I also like Zelda, Resident Evil 4, Soul Calibur, SSBB etc. :) My favs are probably Zelda and Fire Emblem.

Sweet! That's awesome. I can't wait for Gears 2 to come out. That's probaly the number one game that I want right now. It's not even the holidays and the best is still to come...

I'm going to be at the midnight sale of that at Best Buy. Should be a long line, which is why I'm going to get there really early...

I don't even have a Wii though. I couldn't. It's not hardcore enough? What do you have?

Wii and PS3. My 360 died RROD in the first few months so I took it back to Future Shop. I can't reward a company for selling me something that breaks - but that means I'll never play GoW :( Wii has some good titles... Zelda, Metroid, Fire Emblem, SSBB, Mario... they're all good. PS3 is only starting to get a lot of good titles now, but my PS2 gets used more for Persona 3 and (soon) Persona 4! Anyway, enjoy gaming while you're young... I have more games than I have the time to play!

Yeah, that much suck. I can't imagine my life without my video games. It's not like I'm a video game addict or anything, but I love them. They help me relax, and think things through, think from things from a different perspective sometimes. Not to mention that I can communicate with my friends all the time. I don't get to play games that much during the week though, but the weekends are all mine!

Good for you! I hope you're able to come up with some really killer tunes. There have always been videogames that let you tinker around and create - it's a long tradition. It's not for everyone, but if it clicks with you, great.

What a waste. Nintendo could have made a legit Guitar Hero/Rock Band competitor exclusive to the Wii. This looks like another 30 minutes of fun that you never touch again

I dunno... I played Guitar Hero for 4 days and never touched it again. This game is pretty unique... I'd say it's pretty special and this reviewer doesn't have a clue. :-) I know people love GH though... Maybe because I play guitar... I actually found it harder than playing guitar sometimes! haha

Can you compose your own music in detail? I have studied music theory and I think that would be really great for nintendo; to release a game that can give detailed complex composing without all of the rules, regulations and in fact difficulty of part writing.

I have not played this game, but based on passed reviews, it isn't more than a rent, that is why I am renting it this weekend.

It allows you to improvise within the constraints of the song. That is, it follows the key and the chord progressions of the song as well as the melody. When you hit a note it offers up a "best guess" of what you are trying to do. Sometimes it works... sometimes not so much ;-) So you have have to practice to see what it offers up in order to determine what is the best to do. Check my swan lake version 2 for an example where I was able to improvise.
