There is no true qualification for "best ever." That's subjective and up to individual interpretation. However, this one stands right up against or with solos of Peart, Moon, Bonham and others. It's an excellent solo with a great display of both hand and foot abilities. Carr was an excellent drummer for sure. Of course I love Peter Criss also.
I love the toms bit at about 1:25. When I saw him do this solo live the sound panned from one side of the hall to the other which was awesome! best drum solo I ever heard and I can still listen to it again and again (how many other drum solos can you say that about?).
He was very skillful and good drummer, but the point for me has always been that Criss drumosolos (especially "Alive!") had some great feeling into it.
its a good solid solo, but best ever is kind of stretching, because that statement is saying this solo is better then anything neil pert, keith moon and john bonham laid down.
Best not only in KISS but one of the very BEST ever. Wtaht a beat, power, cadency, incredible. And a very humble guy, I do miss hime so much, after all for me he comes now first tahn KISS

he may have been a nice guy, but that dosn't hide the fact that he was completely wrong for kiss. he didn't honour peters' style and used double bass, which is ok in a drum solo but not in an actual song.
how the heck did Eric Carr turn kiss into a cheesy 80s glam band?...KISS as a *BAND!* took that route together cause that was the music genre then...Eric Carr's only involvement was...being in the band...dont be so ignorant...
It was Paul Stanley he made all the decisions for the band since Gene Simmons was more interested hanging around holly wood in the 1980s They made cheesy pop albums in the 1980s because of Paul.Eric was just a Drummer you Fool.
eric carr is a legent god take him away to soon but he rocks on in heafen . can sombody tel me whats is that sound when he hit the toms its so awsome its sounds like cow bels can sombody please tel how he dous that i love to do that on my ludwig drumkit. sorry for my bad english;-)
Im glad I got to meet him, he was a very nice guy, and one hell of a drummer!!!!! I always felt he was a real member of the band, unlike whats going on now!!!!
Peter said Eric was a better drummer - that suited KISS in their 'heavier' days - post 1970's - Peter best on the old stuff - Eric Better when the music got more 'metal'
This solo is superb - look for rio 83 - rock n roll all nite - eric in his 'racoon' make-up - superb drumming - miss Eric loads - n i love peter too
I think Eric Carr's solo is way better than Peter Criss's. Same for Eric Singer. Eric Carr was the best drummer for Kiss. And Eric Singer is the best drummer for Kiss today.

I thought eric was good but he was ok Peter Criss drum solo's in the 70's are totally awesome. Paul and Gene did a good smear job on Peter by calling him not good. Come on morans listen to Peters solo and this crap.
@ 1 point a couple a years ago i was in a drum compatition and b4 the competition i watched this solo. cum my turn 4 my solo i did this mexact solo and i added some other KISS drum riffs in and... I WON!! AGAINST A 42 YEAR OLD!! YAY ME!
For what it's worth this is the fIRST time i've ever posted a responnse ! Both Eic's are are superb drummers !, but so was Peter !! Those early records had soul,, and nobody gave that stuff SWING LIKE PETER !SO he didn't play double kick ! He did't have to! Bernard Purdie, Cozy Powell 2 completely different players !! Who's better ? your talking apples, and oranges!! Ask yourself what would you have played? keeping in mind the producer,GENE,AND PAUL,AND OH YES THE MUSIC ! so enjoy!

Very powerful, hard and extremely fast on the double kick drums. A real metal drum machine;but he didn't have the jazz skills and technique of the more talented Peter. Criss is a better drummer and has more taste(especially in his solos). He was able to mix jazz, tribal, latino and rock beats in some songs where Eric probably would have played usual heavy rock drumming.Peter is better!
You don't get it. You had to be there. Sounded a million times different live - this was a great solo, better than Tommy Lee and Alex Van Halen in 1984. If Eric were alive today he'd be a million time better as well, not that he was ever bad.
If you're not a fan - why post about this. This is not just a solo, but a minature song - entertainment ladies!! RIP Eric!!!
Oh yeah, no Axis long boards back in 1984 - fast feet that many wish they had today!
