You have to give proper information if you are going to show people cars, the button on the gearshift is Hill Start Assist which keeps the vehicle from rolling backwards while parked on an incline, secondly the transmission is an Automated Manual, it is a bespoke manual transmission that uses electric motors to change the gears for you. It is not essentially a Automatic.
@pcarleski I don't stress automated Manual because it will only cause more confusion. Just Like the CVT in Nissan where on a monthly basis I have people asking me exactly on how to drive a NIssan with a CVT. Nissan still markets the CVT as an auto just Like Ford markets this gearbox as an Auto against the 5MT. Gearbox may function differently but you still select your gear to drive it like any automatic. I believe Hill Start Assist in these is when you're in Drive, not parked :P
@814gt hard touch materials on the dash scratch too easily........ plus it says alot about the workmanship/quality control of the company.... not all hard touch dashboards are terrible though, just particularly GM products...yuck! still though, soft touch materials are superior to hard touch dashboards, and in this day in age, if a SUB-COMPACT car can have soft touch dashboards, any other car from any other class of vehicle should also have this...
Every automotive person seems to be compelled to comment on if the "materials are soft to the touch"....who cares. Since when was important if the dash is 'soft to the touch' or harder plastic. The mold is either plastic or vinyl. Take a grand of the price of the car for me and keep the dash hard plastic...the 'soft touch' in my audi was great to touch....just gums up with hot sun..hard to clean..heavier material...etc.
@814gt Consider that a car with soft touch dash & in its low price range isn't an easy find so one should appreciate that it has this. You wont be slapped in the face with excessive cheapness
@Intechdude300 People need to just be happy with the advances. I drive a luxury car from 1990 and the dash rattles to pieces on commutes and the low gears vibrate the heck out of you. Today you can get the smallests cars, and the lowest end cats, bost with what used to be luxury items!
@TJC450 the Kia Optima has an Optional 274 Horsepower 4 Cylinder.....and don't even get me started on the Mitshubshi Lancer Evolution and its 320 horsepower 4 Cylinder lol
OK I swear at 01:48 that glovebox and vents looks like an eye and mouth...creepy...I don't like this car, because Ford just imported it from Europe and rebaged it. I wish they would actually put thought into their cars like Hyundai and Kia do.
They did put thought into the car, and that was creating a car for the world market. There is no rebadging, its Fiesta everywhere else. They essentially prepped the car for U.S. market by making it left hand drive & offering the bigger engine, & some options which are likely not available everywhere else. The car is not imported from Europe. A Twin Turbo version is on the way as well which is something Hyundai, Kia, nor toyota has yet planned to do for a sub-compact.
@talldude123 Ummmm. Thats no what they did. I even think they make it in the USA or Mexico. Its not just right out from Europe. Its called the fiesta all over the world.
@newandused1998 I would be so so pissed off if I had a car with Sync..I would hit the radio with a hammer, I like to figure out my own radio stations and cellphone.
I'm more into the Fit but this is easily a runner up. I'd take the hatch over the sedan, looks like an awkward fish. That Sync was givin you an attitude. lmao
Definitely the HAtch, more convenient & better looking. The sedan is frumpy in back. I figured out hitting the OK button shuts it up when not giving it commands lol.
Quite a snazzy ride!! Love it in black looks very classy!!! I agree I wouldn't mind driving this at all!! Not a fan of ford bur they nailed everything on the head with this one
Tho I did say I wouldnt mind driving this for a weekend lol.... But yeah, when it comes to sub-compacts, this is one of the most decent of the the bunch

The only thing stopping me from replacing my 07 tahoe with a 2011 Edge is that MyFordTouch system. It's to complicated for it's own good.

The ST Hatch version coming later ought to be a fast little bugger. With an ecoboost engine under the hood.
