I think I understand the concept of this play. What it is, is telling other ponies to eat healthy things such as fruit, or grass and flowers, and nothing like chocolate or other fattening stuff.

And the jewels just add to the prettiness of the scene, and to get the other fillies more entranced in learning about eating healthy.
