I seem to recall a really frightening apparition from around this time (4th or maybe 5th series); it was sort of like a devil's facde with a beard that twitched as I recall. It had this really weird synthesizer sound behind it whenever it appeared - made me kack my young self.
@MJNSEIFER They probably accidentally mixed it up with another Greek myth. Arachne was a mortal weaver who was turned into a spider by gods. Ariadne was a princess who helped Theseus navigate the labyrinth, she didn't have anything to do with spiders.
@Heliophanus Ariadne gave a thread to Theseus which he unraveled along his trip through the labryrinth - kind of like how a spider spins a web, I guess. "Arachne, Queens of the Arachnids" doesn't quite have the same ring as "Ariadne" I guess.
I'm pretty sure this show contributed to my extreme arachnophobia when I was a kid. -_-
I can`t understand why Alistair just stood there when they said there was a spider coming.If I hear that I would have broken the sound barrier!.Of all things in this show Ariadne used to give me the creeps most.
For those complaining that this quest is too similar to the previous one: go back and watch Season 1 - practically everything is repeated, including dialogue e.g. Treguard repeating the wall monster's instructions.
It was a bit pointless really, but it seems you need some sort of magic to get out of Ariadne's lair in this series. A fairly dull end to Level 2, but I have a feeling the action is about to get more cutting;-)
