  • k. . . .so i have a german shepherd puppy, my friend recommended this exercise regimine for me since her GSD uses it. It's a 20 min walk in the morning, school/work or anything like that during the day, and 40 minute game of fetch or jog or run or something strenous in the evening. is this good enough to keep a german shepherd healthy and tired enough to not be destructive? please reply.

  • Yes thats fine, i used to do 20min concrete work in the morning then 45mins to a hour at the park of a evening for socializing :)

  • if a run in the garden is suitable untill the dog is 6 months old, how can you be sure it will have a good start to socialisation? puppies need short walks as soon as they're fully vaccinated to meet other dogs 6 months is a late start and if they meet small dogs they can start bullying them if left too late

  • Thats why you take your dog to puppy/training classes so it can be socialized in a controlled way untill it is more obedient :)

  • jamilisr, you can't stop taking your dog out as a form of punishment.Outdoors, is where dogs should eliminate and get exercise. You must train the dog yourself, and never give the dog to someone to train.Your dog will never develop a very important bond and understanding with you, if simeone else is spending time training it ! Research very thoroughly about dog training.Dogs need to be corrected right at or before they are about to misbehave, they will not understand your punishment much later.

  • your videos suck ass!

  • I ashume thats a compliment!

  • As for barking, the exact same thing,a quick correction to stop him fixating on the other dog.Socializing is the best way to get your dog used to other dogs but wont work all the time as other dogs might be the instigators in the first place, body language etc. I love dogs btw lol

  • i like ths video a lot and i wish my GSD oneday can learn hw 2 bark and obey .

  • You only want your GSD to bark to alert you of a danger or something not being quite right, You dont want him/her to bark at anything and everything, GSDs are either loved or hated seldom tolerated, obedient GSDs are key to maintaining the dogs credability.

  • Cool Videos and lots of good info . . thanks and keep them coming,I now have a 4 month old GSD (our 1st one) so far she will,Come,Sit,Down,Paw,Speak, however,Stay thats a whole new ball game, any tips on where to even start would be pretty helpfull right now. One final question I walk her 15 mins on a morning 45 on a night, during the day she has garden mostly grass to play in is this too much excercise . or should we do less . .i dont want to hurt her.. thanks again and keep up the great videos

  • Hello, at 4mnths old i would suggest cutting the excercise down slightly, to 15min in the morning and 15min at night till its at least 6months old, the garden tends to be enough until they are 6mnths then you can slowly introduce concrete work as the dog grows, this aids with their muscles and also keeps their claws down! but wait until about 10-11 months for that! With the "stay" that will come with patience, please watch my other video on training and obedience for tips on this...Best of luck!

  • i just wanna knw i have a gsd abt 8 months and she resfuses to accept any wild training and in the same time whn we r out for a walk she loves to run after cats and hardly to obey my orders although i gave her obeidence course,so i stopped taking her out since two days as a punishment.wht do u think i can do ??

  • i dont like the german shepherd show bloodlines as there back is very sloped ...it is unatural ....its not the way german shepherds should be....and francly i think its cruelty.....what do yous all think

  • Please watch my new video Advice-the GSD for my opinion on this subject :)

  • My GSD is about 10 weeks old and i can c a problem that he barks at other dogs. Do u have any tips?

  • SOCIALIZE HIM! Take him to the park every chance you get, bring him to a friend's house who has dogs, take him to Petsmart or Petco....over and over and over and over....how badly do you want a perfect dog? It is completely UP TO YOU and no one else...

  • grat videos on gsd u have thank u....im getting a gsd in about a year and i already have a 11 yr old yorkie is there any advice u can give me on making them get along play gentle etc ..cos my frieds dog always runs and chases and jumps on my yorkie and hurts it..is there anything i can do wen i get my gsd to avoid this (wat is there temrament like ) thanx

  • The only advice i can give you...is to introduce a new dog to your family on a lead if its a pup it will be easier to train it not to dis-respect your yorkie as its small...your friend needs to control their dog...as thats just pure bad manners and bad training...whether they are playing or not this needs to be stopped! GSD's are usually very good to train as they are highly intelligent and eager to please...a bitch would be slightly easier to train as dogs tend to want to be leader.Goodluck :)

  • What foods do you reccomend for my GSD ? I take her out and throw the ball and she is very obeident she brings it to me somtimes she come to me then try to take off. If you have time can you send me a message and tell me all that you know about GSD's and if its possible to completely train her even though she is 1 years old ?

  • My GSDs are and always have been feed on IAMS premuim food or pedigree for wet food,Eukanuba dog food is also very good as they have a range for different breeds including GSD's...it depends on how much work your dog is doing to the amount/type of food you are to put into its body...stay away from really cheap brands if possible...if you message me the kind of things she could use training on i will do my best to advise you.

  • Anyone else find the narrator's accent to be hot? = )

  • Erm hello, im actually the narrator!...i make a narrate all my GSD videos =) that you for your comment i think i sound nervous i some of my videos lol.

  • no you don't sound nervous at all...you sound HOT! Best wishes from Texas.

  • I noticed that this breed has a back end that is a little lower than the front with the rear legs extending backward abit, is this what causes the hip problems in some of those dogs?

  • GSD's are prone to hip problems hence why its good to have all hips checked at a young age...the dog is naturally breed with this stance and build so as it can turn on a point and have more power when at a gallop...hip problems can be down to various things i.e poor breeding parents.

    Hope this is useful :-)

  • can you plz tell me how to make my gsd swin she will only go about a 1 meter then come back i throw stick's in the water about 6 meter's but she not interested why?

  • 1. you can try going into a lake or pool in your area with your GSD to encourage her to swim out with you...2.you could try taking a dog who loves it and is willing to swim...if this is not possible you could try treats or a favourate floatable toy, throwing it in the water then swimming to it yourself to encourage her to play in the water and swim...if this doesnt work perhaps your GSD is saying in her way "i just am not bothered and dont want to swim"...but these are worth a try first.Goodluck

  • thank you but one little thing my dog dose not like other dogs

  • Well try the things ive mentioned see if they work...ideally it would be a good idea to train her to respect other dogs...as you dont know when you will bump into other dog walkers GSD's naturally like to please so teaching her manners with other dogs shouldnt be a problem...even if she never likes them she should tolerate them...she needs to be a balanced submissive dog and you should be a pack leader role model.Good luck in your swimming lessons :-)

  • thanks i sophie is ok with dog as long as it not a staffordshire bull terrier bitch she good with some bitch like rottweliers and any but staffie's well she good with male dog's

  • Nice video! So after he/she is 6months old roughly how much exercise will they need a day??

I'm thinking 15 min walk in the morning and 30 min run at night?

I heard working breeds are a nightmare to control if not exercised enough, so this is the last thing i want to do lol.

BTW, I haven't got my GSD yet, should be next month! Watch this space, youtube!

    :)

  • Right i was able to give my GSD 20min in morning and 1 hour after work in the evening...as this enables them to socalise well with other dogs and get a gd run so as they dont get bored...some say 20min a day keeps a dog at bay...you dont want to over do it nor under do it...my GSD is now 13yrs and thats by doing the excercise progamme i told you up untill she was 10 1/2yrs!!!...now the garden is enough for her and a balanced diet :-)

  • Also...the 20min i used to do in the morning was concrete work for muscle building...and the the hour after work was her runnin and chil-lax time to get a gd mixture...if you need any more advise please feel free to contact me via message and good luck with your GSD you will have to post some videos of his progress at training etc as he grows!!!...to me the German Shep is the best breed of dog...the rest are 'but'dogs...lol :-)

  • I liked it, I want a GSD.
