Wow. Thank god I'm not a DJ. You guys are mean to your fellows. Thank god music composers are at least nice to each other. This sounded good to my ears.
this is nice bruda, very nice. Man i'm old school, vinyl, belt driven techniques, i even had this 16 channel toy thing created by one of the guys from Gabriel an Dresden (Josh gabriel) to make tracks, as long as you create, it's art. so roll it player,.. i'm a fan.
I'm not hardcore vinyl. I already said earlier that I spin Serato. Or maybe I didnt, not too sure. I'm not really down with too many other programs. I don't really take programs too seriously that have auto BPM and auto Sync functions.
After reading your comments I have to break it to you...MIDI CONTROLLERS ARE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. Here in AZ I have seen crowds get rocked using everything from the industry standard cdj 1000 all the way to a Numark Total control...the fact of the matter is turntables, cdjs, "wannabe plastic toys" essentially does the same thing: allows you to sync two songs. Obviously that is a HUGE simplification, but you seriously cant write off the xponent
I read to "Here in AZ" and just stopped. You lost all credit by bringing the half assed AZ rave scene into this. The only thing you guys have going for you is HHC and possibly DJ Transit.
I do speaker and booth installs for 2 major clubs in Hollywood, as well as the mainstage for most weekend raves. I have only had to accomidate a MIDI controller ONCE while setting up, outside of Live PA acts.
They may be taken seriously in AZ, but they are not in Hollywood/Los Angeles area.
Most mixers actually have built in EFX engine on them, such as the industry standard Pioneer DJM800, I currently use a a Berhinger DDM4000 mixer, which has dual EFX banks, as well as an EFX engine for the Mic input.
This further proves your lack of knowledge of DJ gear. As my friend just said "That thing is a plastic toy for wannabe DJs " My job is doing Club and Rave audio around the Los Angeles area, I know what is standard out in the field. Everythign is Serato if you are going digital.
Also, it may have taught you a bit about DJing, but don't defend the thing. Also, that roll you tried doing around 2:50 sounds awful. You need to learn to use your EFX better. I started on 2 Numark Belt Drive TTS and a shitty ass 2Ch mixer, and it taught me everything I neded to know, and it only cost me $300. Well plus vinyl.
Also: I may be wrong, that could be a beatgrid EFX instead of a roll. Not sure, but its one of the two.
haha, yea i wouldn't call that a roll. More like a repeat fail.. but i made this video before i even knew how to mix, it just happend to work. If you check out my newest mixes, i use the repeat very well. You're one of those hardcore vinyl heads. Thats cool. I'm more digital myself. Ableton live type shit, traktor dj, torq dj. This mix doesnt represent the capabilities of the xponent at all or how i use it these days. Check out my newst vid Everyone's a DJ.
Honestly, if you're going to get into DJing seriously, dont buy a USB/MIDI DJing controller. Get a real setup.
I've run on an xponent before, and I would not trade it for the world against my 2 SL-1200's and Serato. Its hard to get booked if you use Virtual DJ at all, and especially if you're using a USB/MIDI controller.
But this is, of course, if you want to be taken seriously in the world of DJing.
Yeah, but honestly, if you're going to take it seriously, you might as well buy the right gear now. You're going to have to buy it sooner or later, and it retains a higher resale value if you do decide to quit.
orgasmatron.

I'd say more 60/40 in favor of the former.

But you have to start somewhere. And I just began :) I want to buy a pair of CDJs too.

I dont use Virtual DJ, i prefer Deckadance- and yes you can drop VSTs into it.
The jog wheels on them are not the best I've ever used but theyre very good imo
you're darn lucky to get one that hasnt broken, the xponent looks like it can do just about anything
djschoolcraftmusic 2 years ago
I dunno about the xponent, I have heard WAYYYYYY to much about it breaking. Like, 3 out of every 4 people i talked to said it broke on them.
The Hercules DJ Console RMX is my weapon of choice.
