@Luisgarzat95 You will need to understand the movie as a whole to understand why he just keeps painting, he was not inventing a new way to write the character sword, but writing it in a way which is very rare and requires a lot of skill, the idea is they are not phased by the armies which have come for them, which is why the students of the school do the same despite the barrage off arrows, its a very powerful scene.

What's the point of this scene? It's laughably impossible, the would be killed instantly as soon as they opened the door. You get a scene like this in the movie and it just screams "this movie not to be taken seriously". It's like something from a kiddie cartoon.

The thing is, I doubt the director of Hero intended it to be cheesy. We're all well aware of it when Tarantino throws in large doses of the stuff into his films, and they're all the better because of it, but Hero was meant to be taken quite seriously, and that's why it fails.
