Looks like the driver in the black car skidded out across infront of the motorcycle.The bike just could not stop in time.The bike could do nothing more than hit the car. Also the driver in the white car had a lucky escape here.Could very well been injured too if the black car had travelled another couple of yards,or even worse if the poor motorcyclest had been catapulted through the side window and in on top of them.she is lucky to be alive.

Honestly, she could have easily stopped in time, she never locked up the front brakes... If you noticed that honda in the right lane traveling at the same speed stopped fine, the bike could have stopped way faster than a car obviously.

actually the honda on the right is traveling significantly slower than the bike. at 0:04 you first see the honda way ahead, and at 0:10 she is next to it.

also, it is much harder to stop a bike than you would think. most bikes have no skid control, while cars do.

It does't look like shes speeding just because the two right lanes are moving slow. That looks totally like my area, the right lanes come to near stops at major offramps, meanwhile the left lanes continue along at normal speeds.

That civic driver had his wheel turned to the right heavily, you can see it while he is spinning.

If I were there, I'd have slammed my breaks and tried to get to the right behind the greyish car, but there was little time to really make any major decision.

r3q5 is right about swerving to the left, it's common cense. For snowboarding, watercrafts, or just about any situation. If an object veers in one direction you go in the opposite direction. The car swerved out of the left lane which left that lane wide open with enough distance to stop before reaching the next car in the left lane.

The bike rider was not at fault, but part of the accident could have been avoided. When you watch the normal speed version, a defensive rider (meaning a living rider)would have started to brake (not just get off the throttle) when they were even with the white car on the right. The expected danger is someone in the right lane pulling out in front of you. You should slow for that, then you would have been going slow enough to stop for the nut in the Honda.

Actually, by reviewing this tape and going frame-by-frame and analyzing it, you have the following things occuring:

1) You'll notice that the 2 right lanes are packed with vehicles and you'll notice that she does infact pass by 2 vehicles on her right side. You'll also notice that the vehicles to her right in both lanes seem to be slowing down, a good sign that there's heavy traffic ahead or in those lanes.

The crash is entirely the fault of the Honda driver. First, it's illegal (and unbelievably stupid) to try a RIGHT HAND u-turn in the middle of what looks like an 8-lane road.

Second, I've been riding motorcycles for 30 years, and I'm pretty accurate at estimating speeds. The bike is going no faster than 35 mph, which I doubt is above the posted speed limit.

This crash was all the Civic guys fault. He wasn't paying attention at all and didn't judge the closing rate of the car in front of him. Thus resulting with him hit the brakes at the last second, effectively locking the rear tires up the same as pulling the ebrake.

Now why did the rears lock and not the front? Probably because the idiot isn't smart enough to figure out that if you leave the car in a high gear and don't depress the clutch under heavy braking the front brakes will try to stall out the engine. But because the car is in a high gear this is difficult to do so instead the rears lock.

And to be perfectly honest, the higher the revs are the better, certainly in terms of engine braking, you can have a sportsbike engine screaming, and still be doing 30mph, it all depends what gear you are in. Holding at a constan throttle, and speeding ona motorcycle are very different things.
