I love Charlie, but this might not be the best forum for his tendency to talk extemporaneously until someone yanks him off the stage. The students just want to flip their caps up in the air and go celebrate.
It's so true what Charlie says about building a latticework of mental models with a multi discipline approach... You can actually outwit experts in their field - it's almost scary how simple yet powerful this one piece of knowledge is.
Love Charlie, can't get enough of him. He is definitely one of the smartest people on the planet and has a very lucid mind. He is also much less direct and political than Buffett so you can often learn more from him. Do yourself a favor and grab the book Poor Charlie's Almanack. - Adrian Meli
I liked what he said about a sea of Asian faces to his left, and how the Asians are rising so fast in American society: the Asians are the new Jews and are purposely gravitating to money and power without contributing anything to society.
@wyz0010 I've contributed a heck of a lot more to American society than people who form a state-within-a-state; refuse to assimilate; refuse to obey the law; refuse to learn the language; and gravitate to money & power for their own ends (i.e. Jews and Asians). Funny how South Korea refuses to allow a Chinatown to form, isn't it? Again, I think Mr. Charlie Munger brought out a good point intentionally.
@pollywogA1 Societies requires and thrives on cooperation. You said you refuse to assimilate. That just means you retain individual differences that hinders cooperation without seeking common grounds to facilitate it. You disobey the law. You think it's okay to rape and kill. You said Asians and Jews gravitate to money & power for their own ends. What you forgot to include in the sentence is most of the businessmen and politician in the United States. So, what did you contribute to society?
@wyz0010 Please read what I wrote a little more carefully and you will discern that I did not say I refused to assimilate or I disobeyed the law. Please improve your English before you engage in debate. You're probably a case in point.
@pollywogA1 I admit I have misread your previous statemet, but that doesn't mean you can isolate Asians and Jews as the only ones who gravitate towards money and power for their own ends, a characteristic common to men. You should read your Adam Smith if you think that's a bad thing. Also, why would those Asians even study in the university if they refuse to assimilate and learn English? For your information, Warren Buffet's mentor, Benjamin Graham, is Jewish. Take your smear campaign elsewhere
It's quite amazing to think lady gaga has 150 million views and one that has profound life changing ideas and thoughts only has 6 thousand. Those that find the acquistion of wisdom as entertaining are at an enourmous advantage when it comes to success and achievment.

Does anyone know where to find a transcript of this speech? I can only seem to find cliff notes and semi-transcripts.

You can skip the first four minutes if you just want to hear Munger talk.

Lee, I was thinking the same thing. These very valuable videos have less than 10k views.
Weird.

I'd recommend Charlie's book, "Poor Charlie's Almanack". Awesome book. Will get you much further than Lady Gaga ;)

@Leejrt2k1 This is the reason why 99% of the population are in the service class. Just be glad you're in the 1% of the higher intellect of society.
