ok so first of all they are not the same genre knife party is electro and skrillex is dubstep

The reason they sound kinda the same is because dubstep is a sub-genre of electro it originated from electro and there for is electro i <3 ELECTRO BITCHES

Both artist produce electro and dubstep. Dubstep is half-time with deep bass and electro is straight 4/4. One does not originate from the other. Its the production STYLE that's similar. Skrillex's style is more random with high pitched and/or cut-up vocals. Knife Party's randomness is more structured with a bit more melodes thrown in.

Both artists are good at what they do.

Electro house hails from electro-clash and tech-house whilst dubstep draws its roots from 2-step, drum & bass, dub and grime. Both genres, in their mature forms, now draw influences from virtually every single genre.
