  • Jesus your ugly. AIDS is not a fashion statement bitch

  • Ur sexy

  • Lets make things Human-Centric rather than Afro or Euro Centric.

  • hotep sister u are fine !!!!!

  • ?????

  • Dumb bitch. You aren't in Africa, deal with it "Soul sista".

  • Yeah mama..i am your biggest fan of all...I need a black woman like you.

  • all of this hateful talk where there should be none shows a very real fear on the side of those who oppose the reclaiming of a ppl's culture. why so fearful and hateful, if you feel it is a waste of time for someone else to waste their energy on this matter then why are YOU wasting your time dumping on something that has nothing to do with you? LIVE AND LET LIVE that is how we will all get along

  • @hellohey000 Thank you, my thoughts exactly.

  • Wow, I love this video these white supremacists on here are so fearful of black americans reclaiming their culture because they know that is the beginning of them losing their grip on the minds of many black people and the beginning of the end of their power. African culture is very strong!! Keep up the good work.

  • Nowsdfreak1, you are

    BLOCKED!

    we dont need hate here!

    -Tko

  • Reading some of these hateful comments about Clothing. I dont understand.

  • that's really rude and IGNORANT do u even now anything about africa (the vast continent it is) are u stuck in a time warp or all u kno is starving children u c on tv.THERES ANOTHER SIDE 2 AFRICA not evryone is circumcising and etc.. we have houses just as big and BEAUTIFUL as urs its just the rich/poor gap is way bigger than urs

  • FBB, you have to acknowledge a large part of Africa's poverty is because outsiders came and laid the infrastructure to waste. Between slavery and exploiting the natural resources, Africans aren't left with much to wor with. Not all of them are war ridden though. Ghana is a good example. Many Africans I meet are the friendliest most open ppl ever. It's a shame you think so poorly of black people. Africa is our heritage. I am very proud of where I come from.

  • @FightBadBehavior The only reason why Africa has so many problems is because white people came over and stole all of the African resources. That's just like white people to go bother people who are minding their own business in their own land. They did it to the Blacks, Native Americans, and the Asians. African was fine until the Europeans started to colonizing over there.

  • @FightBadBehavior First of all I didn't "SCOLD TKO for" ANYTHING.. I never even replied to her you backward suspected RACIST (WHITE SUPREMACIST) PILE OF FECAL MATTER.. secondly I hear wonderful news that your ILK is having trouble reproducing it's recessive genetic plague upon the earth and she is steadily working to purge the universe of your DESTRUCTIVE maniacal destructive, naturally disastrous kind. Do the world A good deed and speed up the process. :)

  • you look so nice

  • Did we ever get a winner for this? When is the 09 contest? :-)

  • I wantedto know who won this

  • Comment removed

  • You need the bone through the nose to complete the Afrocentric look. Oh, & don't forget in Africa, they mutilate female genitalia; so get to slicing & dicing!

Or better yet, leave that African shit in Africa. Africa has always been & will always be nothing more than a shit hole.

Celebrate our distinct American culture. It's made us the greatest nation on Earth. Flush the black history shit.

  • panamablack - Join the world wide effort to boycott African diamonds; there's just too much blood on African diamonds.

People used to love ivory, but elephants were being slaughter. But a worldwide boycott of Ivory killed the trade & saved elephants.

SOME people like diamonds, but African humans are being slaughtered. Time to kill the diamond trade.

Check out diamondboycottDOTcom. JUST SAY NO TO AFRICAN DIAMONDS.

  • I do not support the purchasing or owning of diamonds.

  • OMG, you look so cute.

I always wanted to be black, lol.

  • i like tunish1

  • Love you too Tonya. The Pretty One.

  • ince when has becoming or being what we are innately a contest. Is it a contest for those of you that dont have any connection with your TRUE heritage. Or has it become just a fashion statement or fad. Being BLACK/AFROCENTRIC is NOT A FASHION CONTEST. IT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT YOU GO TO THE CLOSET AN CHANGE INTO. IT TAKES FAR MORE THAN CLOTH AND A HEADWRAP. GET REAL! WAKE UP!

  • Actually... I don't consider that hating. I agree because when people mock the african culture and play it off as a fad, it's ridiculous. I'm nigerian and I for sure do not appreciate it. How would you feel if people constantly imitated yout culture and made it look like something that it isn't?

  • Lol, I understand that every Black person has African or Carribean lineage but, I don't really think that you can consider yourself African if you can't truly trace your ancestors. Honestly though, what she is wearing doesn't look African... it looks like an american imitation -_-" (not to be an a-hole) but I have more nigerian clothing than I can count and none of it looks like that. Even other West African countries don't have it like that.

  • On your profile it says you are 15. You should probably go and sit down some where, grown folks are over here talking.

The fabric I am wearing is from Africa. The top I am wearing was sewn by my very hands. My family is from the Caribbean. This is how I learned to wrap my hair. When it comes to hair wrapping you make your own style. The purpose is that the hair is covered.

    TKO

  • Nigeria is 1 of 52 COUNTRIES in Africa. I am a descendant of mama Africa, and you don't personally OWN the rights to any style. You're Nigerian? I have a better chance of having seen more of Africa than you have. And you should be ashamed for coming here talking this nonsense. If you've ever put on a pair of jeans, THAT is a western style... if you choose to roll up your pant legs its on you. I can't jump on your back saying Mr Levi wouldnt have wanted it that way when he created dungarees!

    TKO

  • Chocara, plz don't apologize to that child. She praises a white Christ while coming over to my page telling us that we aren't "African" enough. There is something wrong with her rationale on SOooooSooo many levels

    TKO

  • Yea I saw the Prof, she is young and should'nt be in grown folks business anyway.

  • Sucking up to that sell out does nothing for you or your cred.

  • Get over it!!!! I see Nigerians Immitating Black American Culture and Music all the time. YOu are not all of Africa and you have no clue whether or not African Americans are descendant of certain Nigerian people.. MANY OF US ARE! Again, GET OVER IT. You didn't invent and don't own headwraps, African wax print fabric or anything else. You didn't invent it.

Why don't you take up your beef about immitation with the Chinese WHO PRINT AND MAKE THE MAJORITY OF AFRICAN PRINTED FABRIC!!!

  • @WONDAWOMAN That's the problem with blacks we're always hating on each other. African born black are always bringing African American's down for not knowing about African culture or not knowing what part of Africa our ancestors came from. I'm sorry my people we're put on a slave ship and stripped away from there culture. They think just because of that we are not allowed to express our African side. It's crazy.

  • u look so beautiful!

  • Obaahema (queen) Tonya! You're looking lovely these days. Great contest.

  • Beautiful queen

  • i like

  • Thank you for this Goddess! We need more sisters like you. Plus you are truly beautiful!

  • I LOVE YOU !!!!!!!!!!!

  • How do you mask the smell of the shea butter. I got mine from Harlem and the smell is strong. What do you suggest?

  • If the smell is strong, leave the lid off of the container of a couple of days. The smell will dissipate :)

  • Thank you

  • Oh yeah, I forgot to add that you can put certain oils in the shea butter, like peppermint oil, to give it a certain scent. Put whatever oil in and mix it up. Not only will it smell the way you want it to, but the shea butter will have a frosting like consistency after whipping it.

  • Thank you for answering this, because I didn't know how to respond. I LOVE the smell of shea butter so much that I wouldnt want it to go away..

    -TonyaTko

    -TonyaTko

  • To Love birds and Goddess Tonya TKO:

My correction for the misquote is: A nation can rise no higher than it's woman. I feel that for a woman to have a high selfesteem we must make her selfesteem possible in this world and for us to protect a woman's self esteem is to protect the world. All men must take a more concerned role in the whole being of the Woman for she is the Mother of Civilization and so we can make a world for our children so that we can always be.

  • You look great! A woman can rise no higher than it's woman.

  • Your makeup is beautiful..You are beautiful.

  • Why thank you very much! I appreciate it.

    -TonyaTko

  • I have a silly questing Tonya, What does Eurocentric look like? I might have to google it

  • wet dogs or cortney love...lol...

  • Well most ppl in this country dress in westernized ways... the descendants of europe, and European fashions, think of an east indian wearing a sari, or a japanese wearing a kimono, think of a spanish person, a native mexican, native american, native middle eastern, and different ideas of style of dress come to mind. Now think of Native African, how many of us in diaspora express a connection to our roots?

    -TonyaTko

  • Eurocentrism & Westernization are almost synonymous. Think of going to work with a tie choking your neck, and the typical business suit. Think of what they wear as being "dressed up" at an award show. If left un-altered, how do you think a native indian would go to a business meeting... or a native african get dressed up to go to an award show? Or a native japanese to a wedding, or chinese to a burial. Can you see the difference?

    -TonyaTko

  • An African American lady referred to my Nigerian outfits as "costumes"

    Go figure !!

  • That makes sences! thanks

  • I just bought some Shea Butter for the first at the Juneteenth festival here in Buffalo last Sunday from some African dudes. Most of the people where from Somalia and Ghana but from 116th. I use to live round that way. Well, congratulation and good luck with another contest. Looks like fun.

  • ummm, another contest...guess I am going to have to get down and enter. You know I will definitely make a good attempt at winning. Taking out all the suckas and you don't know how I did it...Also, I tried the tee shirt idea as well. Got rained on when I went to Central Park, and it became a wet tee shirt contest..not good...need a bigger shirt for next time or one with longer sleeves.

  • OH MY! :-O

Yeah... we can't be having that!

    -TonyaTko

  • cool contest. good luck to all. peace.

  • Tonya, I tried the Tshirt idea for my Nikko's 5th grade graduation, with my Afro puff and my blue and white Indian wrap skirt. :) I LOVED IT...need a bigger shirt though.
