  • The World Still Be Dancing With This Song! Great Sound!

  • 1 dislike <-- FOREVER ALONE.

  • i loved this version. used to have the album but got lost thru borrowing..

  • i love this version..

  • Post-punk was not a particular sound, it was an attitude that took punk into new spaces. The Cure, it could still be argued, are a "post-punk" group who maintained the spirit and kept evolving/moving. Fair play to 'em!

  • 2012

  • Ok, and tnx by ur supporting!

  • Si Alicia, esta versión no la tengo y ahora que sé que existe, la buscaré. Saludos y gracias otra vez por el aporte.

  • Their music/attitude's always been 'post-punk'. It wasn't a sound. It was punk in its progressive state. I also prefer the early stuff, but thank fuck this band never became U2. They stuck to their guns and have done what they wanted, whether pop, rock or something deeper and darker. Not many groups like them who have become successful...

  • @1965raj

that's why U2 bow down to The Cure Robert Smith is the King of Goth ha ha!

  • @survivorproject

    You're damn right he is!

  • yes. this is a great post. thanks alot. love those early years. i stopped at Head on the Door...

  • Is this a live performance?

Because the Three Imaginary Boys LP version sounds different?

But this song is amazing, love it when they were post punk at their beginning.

  • Hi this is a demo studio version, from John Peel Session, I believe.

  • @PequenaAlice

Demo version yes...Jon Peel Session no. John Peel Session they used different lyrics and that was from 1979....this is from 1978 and was actually recorded in only 4 hours on a very small 4 track in their kitchen.

  • Lol is a better drummer than Jason!

Listen to Lol, listen to the great beat and compare to jason! Such a BIG difference!

Lawrence ruled during the Faith and Pornography tours!

  • Gracias Alicia, seas grande o pequeña el favor es grande!

  • Gracias

  • What was it like?

First they played Jumping Someone Else's Train, then the instrumental (if I remember correctly it calls Another Journey By Train), and then Grinding Halt.

I call it the 'Train Trilogy'.

When I listen to the first songs they sound really punk-ish.

But I prefer the 'Dark Trilogy' the most (so the era between 1980-1982), to me thats the real The Cure, thats their unique style, I know that irstyle changed, but the dark stuff is the original The Cure, to me :)

  • the cure son los mejores!!!!!!

  • I HAD THIS ON CD, THEN MY FRIEND LOST IT!

Where can I find this song again?!?!

  • Well I have found this song from a rare The Cure and others artists collection I have bought in my country, curiously I wasn't a The Cure fan at that time,

  • (continuing) I would be only 2 years later, and then have discovered that these songs I have are rare... I can't say where you can download it but you can download a program called Free Youtube To mp3 Converter, it's very easy to find in web and very easy to use, then trought the URL of this video you can download only the song, without the videoclip.

    Hope that I could help

  • love the cure great song ♥♥♥

  • The Video's title is wrong. Is not

"The Grinding Halt" but simply "Grinding Halt!!"

  • The song desperate journalist is another!!!

This is simply Grindind Halt taken from the 2nd Peel session.

You can find it now on youtube search!!

  • Where is written Desperate Journalist? :/

  • Is written in your song's tag information

    under your profile!

  • Oh I put that name in the tag of search because Desperate Journalist is a "descendent" of Grinding Halt. As both songs are similar, the one that look for Desperate Journalist will find the song that has generated it

  • This song's called "Grinding Halt" not "Desperate Journalist". Please, make the things right.

  • Added to my favs! Thanks for posting!!
