@imdeadindeed Men Of War was the worst RTS I have played in years. Heart Of Iron is a much more realistic and historical game. Though they are two different types of games for the most part.

Guys if you want to make your nation mighty in this game, go through the maps. Go and 2History" and find your nation. Examine allt he information avaible to you and you will understand.

I was on a trip to Afghanistan and played this because this was the only game i had taken with me.

After some days i learned how to play this and wanted to make Persia mighty again. So i changed some files, gave some more resources to my self and tadaa. Persia became one of teh "Majors" :D

I've learned more about world war 2 and european geography from playing this game then anything else.

Also, if your looking for a cheap thrill or "fun" don't bother getting this game.

im trying france now. 60% of ground forces got pwnd, 5%hiding in switzerland, 15% belgium, 10%were based in africa, then theres a couple in england and on transports being evacuated. plus a hand ful with air support fighting in paris to try and hold em back long enogh to get the res to england. the rest are running to a port(maybe 4 brigades) or on the french island in the med.

@Joesolo13 Well I was playing as Germany but when I started my invasion of poland ( I started in 1938 invaded Poland April 39) France attacked the very top of my line and broke through in which they pushed up towards the Rhur my industry I pushed them out before they did anyreal damage but if you bring the low countries on your side get a pact or in the good books of Italy and N.Spain and then breakthrough the north of there line or Beligum..

@Joesolo13 push into the Rhur and Rhineland seriousley damaging Germanys industry output try to do it while Poland still has some fight left so far I have not experimented with France but that should work.

The swastika is only outlawed if it is shown in puplic or if you own flags, plates ect. that's not from WW2. They need to understand that it's history and that this is a fucking game. I hope there will be a mod where you can have the real flag.

The map seems completely out of proportion. Even though I understand that realism isn't the main concern of the developers and gameplay really should be their priority, but this is just too much. I'll give you only 1 example - Latvia has 5 regions, while the Benelux countries (equal to the size of Latvia IRL) have more than 30 regions.

This has nothing to do with my country. I'm talking about realism. Various other flaws (the Balkan region, Belgium etc) have already been pointed out. Most likely the last time you've seen an actual map was back at high school, but there are people who love the game exactly because of the realistic approach, the historical accuracy, the leaders, the research groups and also the map. Fixing the aforementioned flaws is a simple task which by any means doesn't ruin the other parts of the game.

My one complaint is that the political displaymode is even less colorful; the whole point of a political displaymode is sharp, bright colors that quickly identify each nation, which is defeated by having them be subdued like in the shown footage.

Less colorful then what ? Seem lot more colorful then it was in HoI2 if you ask me. And no need for color to be sharp to easily see difference between country, could quite easily who got what in what they showed up. Don't forget world was still colonial during WW2 so it normal you see Great Britain and France color everywhere. =) (Which is mostly what they showed in this footage during the political display map mode)

Hearts of Iron is one of my all time favorite series, and the best WW2 simulation out there. You can play as Brazil, Germany, USA, or Switzerland...what game lets you do that?!

As to the new changes, I am not sure I like the music, but it has a definite influence from HOI2. The map is beautiful, with the added areas. The army/division screen is amazing, with all of the added detail. Diplomacy, and all of it's detail...wow!

Awesomeness. Love the level of detail in Vietnam, love all the diplomacy options, love the look of this game and can't wait to play it.

One caveat - the AI better work at least as well as Arma (at worst) otherwise I won't buy it.

This looks amazing! I like that there are smaller subdivisions of provinces. I also like how they brought back the diplomacy triangle matrix. I will probably wait a few months after the initial release so that they can work out some of the inevitable bugs.
