  • This demo blows my mind.

  • If that's not art, what is?

  • great groups, great products.... and do something on amiga again, please?

  • amazing...

  • AWESOME... could you get the sounds on Itunes? or simply podcast it all on Itunes?

  • krap.

  • Great ... Sorry ,Awesome demo !!! Not for my pc tho : ].

  • "Instead of polygons, Unlimited Detail's system uses dots - billions of them - to create a "point cloud" representation of a virtual world. By selecting one point for every pixel on the display screen, it's possible to create an exquisitely detailed 3D snapshot in much the same way as a Seurat pointillist painting. Change the selection several times per second and you can move smoothly through the virtual world." (NewScientist)

  • Pretty neat. And probably state of the art coding. But not as mindblowing as i'd expect a first place to be.

  • original song is Queen Of The Universe By Greek Band "Socrates"

  • Point?

  • This will really make H.264 encoders and decoders puke. Watch your CPU-Load if you find a 1080p version of this! ;-)

  • i thought it was another video that uses a similar style...but no it is actually pretty decent,...music helps a lot...

  • what program they used to make this??? may be Aferter effects??? or how exacly they made that???

  • @lquert They made it themselves.

  • @notjonnyram yeah but i mean how?... what program they used...? thats a cumputer program... i know....

  • @lquert This production is not a video but a running program, more like a game then a film. they make it by writing alot of C/C++ code (my guess of language) interfacing with DirectX or OpenGL.

Its a part of the "demoscene" where groups make these productions usally on spare time and them compete against eachother during a weekend of boozing and coding.

There is also sub-categories where a production in total, with textures, music and 3d-models can not be bigger then 64kb or 4k

  • @lquert You don't get it. It's not a video. They did not use video editing software like After Effects or whatever. They have programmed the particles. By hand. They did not take a video. It's pure (high level) machine code.

  • @moejoe1337 aaahhh hehehe sorry my ignorance.... hehe... i thought it was a computer program... i better learn more about this, cause i do 3d animation, and i know a little bit of it.... but i dont know a lot... u can check my channel to see my videos if u want to... thank u again... for the information... :-)

  • The point rendering I understand, but how in the world do you make music that sounds like this?

  • @hrydgard Never mind: watch?v=sqXpXmFDzF8 :-)

  • uh oh, snicker, fucking it like a loser would.

  • f**k me, that was amazing! good to see oldschoolers still going strong

  • this reminded me of being on salvia.

  • Bang!

  • And I thought frameranger was sick o_o

  • you should put this up on VIMEO..better sound / video.

  • @willywalloo even at 720/1080?

  • The creature running through the trees is beautiful!

  • Nightmare like mind trip. Exceptional graphics, from two exceptional demogroups. Nice job guys

  • @mormonpoo This song was made specifically for this demo (animation).

  • @xmnstr444@mormonpoo; take that as a compliment.

  • what is the song?

  • @mormonpoo It's a remix of a Socrates/Vangelis track called "Queen of the Universe". There's a copy of that here on YouTube, but it won't let me post a link!

  • Wow, great video. Where can I track down that music?

  • Hah - kept reading "Destop" and "Desktop".

This is visually (and aurally) stunning. Just awesome.

  • It still amazes me how well people can produce stuff like this, and we still have crap game engines out there

  • Particle man does what he can!

  • Not sure why but this really freaks me out...

  • wootwoot just stunning! sound, story and gpu abuse ;D

how long did it take to produce it ?

  • Love it.
