  • A grand entrance. It reminds me of the nightmares of the Wizard of Oz flying monkies that I had as a child.

  • I take it that this paid out of taxes....to the tune of a 10 million dollars.

  • what great memories.

  • @canadianbacon92 it's either mhari's wedding or dewar's spirit of the tattoo.. Most likely mhari's wedding

  • what's the tune starting at 5:03? I've heard it but I don't know the name

  • @canadianbacon92 yep Mairi's Wedding

  • @TheDrummerboi94 actually, Mairi's wedding starts at about 4:04...note the change from the slow march "hero's of Kohima" to the faster paced reel - based tune... oh, and if there's any doubt there's a simplified version on wikipedia if you search for "mairi's wedding". it's "Dewar's spirit..." that starts at 5:03

    ADSUMUS

  • Awesome

  • SPLENDID

  • All the glory and splendour of the Scottish Army. The most exciting moment of the entire Tattoo. I will never forget 1993, the last time that all the 7 Scottish Regiments were on parade together along with all the Regimental bands. That was a glorious - albeit sad - moment, just prior the first amalgamation.

The Scottish regiments are, along with the Guards, the diamond head of the Crown's Army! And their musics are the best

  • @PUCCINIMUSICK you are so right. I was lucky to see the Tatoo in 2010; the massed pipes and drums are hard to beat

  • How did you get this with out the commentary? Wonderful post thank you!!!

  • I agree, its a great selection. The only I miss is a list of the tunes, please!

  • Music: Cullen Bay, The Heroes of Kohima, Mhairi's Wedding, Dewar's Spirit of the Tattoo, The Minstrel Boy, When You and I Were Young Maggie, The New Rigged Ship, Fear a Bhata, Jimmy Tweedie's Sea Legs, Hoist The Anchor, Jog Ahoy.
