Brilliant video. Imagine something as uplifting as completion of the AT, climbing this beautiful mountain, and then this expression of friendship. Then this tfgg creature comes slithering out of the rocks, mumbling his stark raving and relentless insanity. Pretty funny!
Thanks so much. It was 3 years ago today but still seems like it was just last week. Don't worry, tfgg's comments didn't take anything away from it AT ALL!
funny vid man, liked the rambo bandana shot and the reflective sunglasses. on a side note, speaking of leave no trace, i thought it was funny how many of the LNT bandanas given away at neels gaps were left behind all the way to maine.
Here's your perfect egotistical a-hole. Hey people, I'm 59 years old, it just ain't that difficult. Two eight year olds passed me climbing it with their dad. Great climb. Scarey at times...but make no mistake: Never a technical feat. Just fun.
Yeah, the 5 miles up Katahdin are not difficult, but I don't get the impression from this video that they were in anyway saying the climb was difficult. Therefore tfgg your comment is uncalled for! It's the 2100+ miles leading to Katahdin are very difficult! I can just tell from your comment that you are so without a clue about what it takes or what it means to finally reach Katahdin. So who is the a--?
It's about the journey, not the destination... Katahdin was not something that I ticked off my checklist upon summiting. However, a few things that I did accomplish included, making friends for a lifetime, learning how to simplify, re-discovering the beauty this world has to offer, slowing life down, and more. If you think, by any means, that my video states that "Hey, look at me, I'm a badass", well, you've totally missed the point.
weaksir/hare97...Once you entitled your vid "Hollywood summits Katahdin" you made it about YOU. Beauty, destination, journey, relationships are nouns you are employing in retrospect. Erase personal history and invite the wilderness into your life. Our insignificant planet is mysterious beyond comprehension, science and Satriani...I would have been less harsh if you had chosen Wayne Johnson...Even "hare" thinks your a badasss...! Leave no trace. dude, the movie is about his LAST day on the Appalachian trail, as in, he walked the ENTIRE trail, and this was his last day, hence how dramatic this day really was.
Yes, it is correct, this video was shot on my final day on the trail, 199 days after I left Georgia. Also, in response to the comment about the video being about ME... I'm actually not even in the video. Hollywood is a guy I hiked with...this was my "thanks for hiking with me" gift to him.
Visionary. Focus. Interest. Joe Satriani! Gunning for the Top, Top Gun! 5* out of 5*'s! Great(!!) use of images, soundtrack, video editing, story line. A winner! Made a discovery two years ago in the back country of Southern California during the rainest season in over 60 years that proved to be a Once-in-a-Lifetime find. goto youtube vid: "Hike to Cedar Creek Falls"
Katahdin the star attraction and one gorgeous mountain right in our backyard.
