For skateboarding...it should be ok as long as there's plenty of light... But to be honest, i'd look closely at something more flexible like the Panasonic GH1 or GH2
First of all, is this camera sensitive to light? Secondly, is it possible to record in 4:3 mode and still keep a good and crisp picture quality? Been thinking about buying it, but I need to know other people's opinions first. I don't even know if 4:3 recording is possible?
since it records using a small sensor, dynamic range is limited, recording in a dimly-lit environment is decent, but not great...also the lens it came with is susceptible to color fringing, more apparent in high-contrast shots.
'not saying it's bad; it's very good as a consumer-grade HD cam. if you're expecting that it will be comparable with DSLRs that can record video, you will be sorely disappointed.
Does this camera do well with a slightly shaky hand-held camera? Also what type of controller does it have for the manual focus?

what do you mean by "sensitive to light?"
AFAIK this model cannot record in 4:3 aspect ratio.

I mean how sensitive it is to record towards the sun for example, and how well i performs in darker environments.
