@EndlersaurusRex you can be "pretty sure" of whatever you want to be. maybe for building muscle, yeah. for building strength and balance, youre absolutely wrong
@Phi16180 Try doing a bit of research before you come out sounding conceited and arrogant. Lifting shoes have changed in design over the years to promote strong balance and incredible strength. That's why Olympic lifters use them, and I'm pretty sure no cross fitter has the technique, balance, nor strength equal to an Olympic lifter, even if they are better in aerobic exercises and conditioning.
Vibrams don't have the elevated heel; this makes them good for increasing ankle flexibility.
@EndlersaurusRex weighlifters use them because they provide ankle support so you dont snap your ankles with insane weight, not for getting stronger overall.
@Phi16180 The "ankle support" isn't for the ridiculous weight weightlifters put up; rather it's to position the foot in the position for proper drive through the heel, as well as allow for people of decreased ankle flexibility still be competitive.
I have a shoe of the same style as Vibroms (in that it is like being barefoot), but it has a full cover, rather than individual toes. I have no problem doing Olympic lifting ATG because I have natural flexibility.
@Phi16180 Additionally, don't you think Olympic lifter who have the flexible ankles would move to Vibrams or similarly designed shoes if those promoted strength in a strength oriented exercise? What about powerlifters?
Crossfitters use this type of shoe often because they are good all-around shoe allowing for moderate lifting ability, as well as excellent movement, conditioning, and agility. They do not promote strength any better than weightlifting shoes do.
that requires so much flexibility ughh i wish i could do that.

@IrishMarc1 i dont think it is i think its more, because thats an olympic bar 20kg or 45lbs which means those weights are like 10lbs each...
HillsideFights 9 months ago
@HillsideFights those are technique discs which are 2.5 or 5 kg. 20 + 5 (tehnique discs) + 5 (2.5 partials) = 30 or 66lbs
