The parents could win a civil suit against the boy if it's based on a plausible expectation of privacy that was breached. They'll probably win against the school if they can prove failure to protect. But definately not against people who just looked at it or who taunted and harassed. There is no cause for a law suit there. Hah something like this happened at my school. Girl sent a nude to a guy who she wanted, he sent it to a guy, who sent it to a guy. Soon enough everyone had the pic. We texted her pics of the models in art class in the same position, maybe that was fucked up but thats what she gets!
This is a very sad story. Personally I am putting the blame on the parents, and them alone. They are suppose to teach there child right and wrong and teach them to respect themselves. Are you a parent? I personally am not, but I see the difficulties others around have controlling their kids. Kids do not listen - they think they know everything at that age. Not all kids/teens are like this, but a lot of them are. It's out of parent's hands a lot of the times.
The reason parents have difficulties with there children is because they didn't demand respect from a young age (and when I say demand I don't mean it in a cruel or mean manner). I'm sorry but I think you are WRONG when you say that its not in the parents hands a lot of time. Parents should ALWAYS be the one in charge. I don't think the guy deserves any kind of legal problems. The girl killed herself, he didn't hang her. He didn't send the picture out, tell everyone to make fun of her constantly so that she kills herself. Sometimes things just happen, and there are more than one party at fault for the whole problem. Its not like someone said "either you kill yourself or I kill you." The the point remains, the girl took her own life, nobody else.

The parents could win a civil suit against the boy if it's based on a plausible expectation of privacy that was breached. They'll probably win against the school if they can prove failure to protect. But definately not against people who just looked at it or who taunted and harassed. There is no cause for a law suit there. Unless they can round up the main few, including the ex-boyfriend and prove negligable homicide in criminal court which would be very hard to prove.

This is a very sad story. Personally I am putting the blame on the parents, and them alone. They are suppose to teach there child right and wrong and teach them to respect themselves. Like why did this young girl have a cell phone in the first place. With everything going on in this world there is no way I would let my teenager have a cell phone that I did not have control over. While I agree that the guy who shared the picture probably didn't break any laws, I think the "mistake" was mostly his. Cenk shouldn't be blaming the girl for "making the mistake" of sending that picture. The girl didn't ask him to share the picture and ruin her life; he did and it's his responsibility.
I think this might be one of those few times where a little vigilante justice is called for.
