  • If the Indigo Girls provided the soundtrack for my first true love relationship, this was THE song I'd listen to in all those happy/goofy young love moments.. I haven't listened to it in ages, and even though the emotions were fresh over a decade ago, I find myself traveling back in time - in part kicking and screaming, and in part running as fast as I can. Unfortunately for me, Land of Canaan ended up defining what we had,.. Thanks for the memories!

  • yup love this song...

  • love Indigo Girls!

  • There a a few cool guys here as well as all the gorgeous dykes, love Indigo Girls!

  • i told my girlfriend i loved the indigo girls. ( im a guy). she didnt get em. but she got us front row center to see them at some park in chicago. it was amazing the only thing that could top that is seeing them a third time.

  • Dump'er dude.

  • Man, I'm a guy who loves the Indigo Girls, too. Your girlfriend didn't get them; I'll go you one better -- my ex had never HEARD of them. LOL. They are fanyastic songwriters & singers.

  • i haven't heard this song in a long while. I love this song because it made me think and i always try to figure out what was the least compilcated.

  • what can be said they are the best they mak eu think

  • Maybe it's just me but that was not a mandolin playing. Great track though

  • The words remind me of a friend that I used to spend a great deal of time with but can't anymore. How I wish I could.

  • Emily Saliers is my favorite poet. After 20 years of listening to the Girls I am still wildly passionate and hugely surprised when I watch her up on that stage. Wow.

  • This song really speaks to me. I know everyone has their own interpretation, but for me the lyric "the hardest to learn was the least complicated" is about coming out of the closet. The hardest thing I ever had to learn was the simplest thing ever--that I am who I am and there's no reason to try to change it. I love the Indigo Girls and am so grateful that they were there to help me get through such a critical time in my life.

  • sung it through the hole thing

  • I hope someone values those that question.

I'm not innocent or spectacular - i question...

  • I really like this song, and the video!! =3

I know this is going to be such a duh-moment when I found out but... What, exactly, was the easiest thing to learn? =/ Love?

  • the least complicated...letting your soulmate go.

  • Ooh...

    Thanks. ^^

  • Love this record. One of the 90's best. James Taylor's influence can be heard all over this.

  • the majority of this was composited in Adobe After Effects, I know, I was involved, impressive if you know how feeble computers were in 1994.

Awesome song! The past sucks, forget it, I want to go home, it's over!

  • ma dolin

  • hardest to learn being the least complicated?-how infinitely true. i'll adopt it for a bit: my-own-private-idaho-couplet. visual depictions in which it's anchored are mmmmmmmmm just-so too.

  • (background singers wail)

LOVE it! such an awesome video for one of the greatest songs!

this is usually the soundtrack in my head - yea!

    a+e=ig

  • I've been listening to this song way before I was a teenager. I am 21 now, and even to this day this song gets to me. I never get tired of hearing it. Much love to the Indigo Girls.

  • Me too :-)

  • Best song of the 90's...Thes two ladies can write and sign it.

  • A great song from a great album. I had also never seen this, what a clever and funny (I think) video.

How is it that such an incredible group never got the attention they deserved? Much love for IG and their beautiful harmonies and subtly brilliant songwriting!

  • Love.

  • One of the best songs ever written.

  • Man, GREAT stuff. I can't get enough...

  • totally.. i am a HUGE IG fan (over 35 shows, etc.) how come this is the FIRST time i am seeing this? very cool. thanks for posting.

  • Amy & Emily have done it again - They have proved they are the best!

    I could listen for days.....

  • there's something very gertrude stein-ish about the use of words here. it's neat. not to mention that the whole video is excellent;)

  • awesome!! saw them in concert a few years ago. must see!

  • The Indigo Girls saved the 90s! I can't imagine the decade without The Girls! They single-handedly changed the way I listen/listened to music, and I am much richer for it! Thanks for posting this!
