Chinese Sun Tzu (Son Ja in Korean) was the best tactician of the day surpassing Hannibal and Alexander in his art of warfare. The only person I can think of that is on the level with Sun Tzu has to be one and only Napoleon Bonaparte. Both men 'almost' never lost a single battle. Alexander owed his victories purely to the well trained army and the art of Phalanx system, but Napoleon and Sun Tzu relied purely on their strategies and still won.

The insurgents would never be toe-to-toe with the US in a full show of force. the US has many times the manpower, technology, and weaponry of the insurgents. All the insurgents do is set up IEDs in the hopes of chipping away at American morale until we leave. We lost more people on D-day than in this entire 10 years, both theaters. It just seems worse because it's televised.

Chinese Sun Tzu (Son Ja in Korean) was the best tactician of the day surpassing Hannibal and Alexander in his art of warfare. The only person I can think of that is on the level with Sun Tzu has to be one and only Napoleon Bonaparte. Both men 'almost' never lost a single battle. Alexander owed his victories purely to the well trained army and the art of Phalanx system, but Napoleon and Sun Tzu relied purely on their strategies and still won.

Chess is not about attrition, or glory. It is about winning. The entire goal of the game is to capture, not kill, the opponents King. Furthermore Chess games can end in a No victory for each player a Draw or Stalemate, where neither side wins. Chinese GO???

The Chess reference in this video is entirely Wrong! Chess is Not a game of attrition. Chess IS the ultimate War Game. It has NO equal. Chinese Go does not compare to Chess. Who can name the Worlds GO champion? The USA GO champion? or even the Womens GO champion? Ya can't. They don't exist. There IS a World/USA/Womens Chess champion. All the elements of GO are present in Chess. Go is just a game, Chess is THE game.

Sun Tzu is NOT the be all end all to warfare, despite this video series. His lessons are something for a commander to consider but, to say not to follow his principles will lead to defeat is False. Warfare changes over time. What worked on the battlefield in His day may not work well today or for all time.

The beginning tale of how The Art of War came to be is fictional. The volume was written by the general after his retirement, no way he was brought back to the service of another after he wrote them (and lived long enough for any kings to read and understand them for that matter).
