  • I had this video over twenty years ago, lent it out and lost it. You cannot imagine how long I searched for this again. Thank you so, so much for posting this!

  • This is so much funnier just because of the way this guy acts while he's singing. He's just darling, and the way he cuddles the pineapple and banana cracks me up every time I see it. Plus trying to look pretty on the ladder... And of course, the little bark at the end. And then he has such a lovely voice, even with the little slips he makes.

  • parody of wer ein liebchen had gefunden.

  • I never understood why anyone would use a countertenor...

  • @Engesagreen

two reasons: 1. he can. 2. comedy.

  • @Engesagreen

Have you seen Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream? If you had, you would know.

  • P-P-P-P-Pasha! lol.

  • One helluva countertenor too.

  • sorry this is a stupid question but is this dubbed or is it actually that guy singing?!!!!!!

  • It's him singing, he's a countertenor.

  • Yes, that is him singing. He is known as a Countertenor. Look it up on Wikipedia.

  • Wahat the original name of this piece?

  • LOL, gotta love the various fruit he finds in that tree.

  • It's so different and yet so alike to Osmin's "Wer ein liebchen hat gefunden" :-) countertenor instead of bass, but the woodwinds and the key are so alike :-)

  • I love P.D.Q Bach. Pro.Peter is wonderful.

  • Hahahahaha fish gotta swim. I love all of this stuff.

  • Genius of the first order ........ thanks :D

  • John Ferrante did SO much of the operatic music for the PDQ Bach collection, but I had never seen him before this. Somehow he reminds me (physically speaking) of Jerome "Curly" Howard of The Three Stooges.

  • Man, I loved John Ferrante. I was lucky enough to know him. He was a very nice man, in addition to being a very talented musician. And I liked being able to see him here.

  • I'm EXTREMELY interested in knowing more about John Ferrante. Could you please send me a PM about him?

  • Thanks for posting this!!!

  • "wow. that's gotta be the dumbest song ever..."

  • xXxNyne

--that's part of the joke, you knave.

  • That's part of the script, also, sillyboy.

  • is the genie John Ferrante?

  • The part making fun of the Queen of the Night aria is hilarious.

  • In addition to being hysterically funny, the music itself is beautiful. Those strings under John Ferrante when he's singing "Oh, no, not I" - just magnificent.

  • could you please post Susanna's aria from the beginning of the first act.and maybe donna's aria/scene?

  • This is my favorite opera. I own one of the tapes of it, and wish that there were more clips here on YouTube for me to share with my friends!

  • hey, listen, twinkletoes...

    yeeheeheehee

never heard this pdq bach before

    thanks for posting!

  • Never without my PDQ BACH. When we will see "How many psychiatrists " ?

  • I am SO glad to see PDQ Bach again...I have so missed this fun!

  • Oh, how wonderfully awful! Seeing it is even funnier than hearing it. Thanks for posting.

  • I've got an old mono cassette recording of MIT Symphony with Hindenburg concerto and Canine Cantata (Shickle in a dog suit was chained to concermaster's - that me-- leg) send me a message or two and I might up it on my priority list.

  • Great spoof! I'm behind on my PDQ Bach collection and enjoyed the laugh.

Anyone have video of Peter Schickele and Itzhak Perlman playing a duet in concert....?

  • Oh my god, that got me started on that whole PDQ Bach obsession! Just genius!

  • That Prof. Schickele is a genius. I have most of the PDQ Bach albums. I like Oedipus Tex best. Of course, people won't get most of the gags in The Abdution of Figaro unless they're familliar with the works its making fun of.

  • I'd love to see more of John Ferrante. Too bad he was a bit past his prime by the time he sang this. He was a good countertenor in his younger days.

  • It's musical satire.

  • too covered middle, frayed highs, and loads of open vowels..the rest it's not ok bravo..

  • Really? Do you not get the joke?
