  • Don't move her!! She is designed exactly for her current perch on (like it or not) an important piece of American architecture. Her scale and perspective would be lost if moved. Let's commssion Kaskey to make a waterfront Portlandia, and she should be HUGE!

  • Instead of arguing over the placement of a statue, why don't you hippie hipsters just get jobs?

  • I agree, she needs to be moved.

  • This music sounds like a public service announcement for preventing date rape.

  • cant we have two?

  • actually that looks pretty good..,the composite by the river

  • This innovative and avant-garde design of this building is written about in every architecture textbook. Not everyone finds it ugly. Furthermore, Portlandia was designed by the artist for this site specifically

  • she's still in the wrong place, joel. granted it's my opinion, but everything about her screams waterfront, not hidden from the city on the face of a(n ugly) skyscraper.

  • so if she were on a tall base, that would do it.

  • Proportionally, Portlandia is designed to be viewed from below. Even if she is moved, she still needs to be displayed off the ground, otherwise we'll all be complaining about how ungainly she looks.

  • FYI she is also the 2nd largest copper repoussé in the U.S., after Liberty. The building isn't that ugly IMO but she is hidden by trees for most of the year. As for the location on the river... would probably be better if she were up above ground level, given her gesturing, but anywhere that she can actually be seen would be better.
