Alan Moore refused to have anything to do with Hollywood related things after the abortion that was the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and also From Hell, V for Vendetta. He has previously stated that Watchmen would be impossible to adapt as a film because of sheer length and the fact it was written in a way to be suited to the graphic novel format ie you can flick back through pages and see things that you never saw before that become alot clearer because of whats just happend
Yeah but I read now that Moore has not seen or heard one thing about the movie. All movies based on his books he reclines to put his name on it. Constantine, League, V for Vendetta... Moore refuses to have anything to do with all movies even if they are good (which so far none have been.)
I think I read Watchmen and now many years later I'll have to reread it then see the film. There were parts I didn't get. Hope it is made for the comic book crowd who will also buy the dvd. Isn't it about a bunch of out of shape superheroes that try to stop...ah that would be telling, nevermind.

I agree 100%, but it wasn't just his unwillingness to compromise. Rorschach had a death wish from the begining, His life had been filled with so much agony and disappointment, he had to die. He is without a doubt my favorite comic book character of all time.
I read the novel (I don't read, I'm not into comics), and I loved it. And I was sad that Rorschach died. But then I realized... that's how his character becomes complete. He has no purpose in the world any more.

I think this movie is going to be a huge box office bust. Not because it's going to be a bad movie but just because I don't think the general movie going puplic are going to get it. Remember what happened to DUNE? I pray I'm horribly wrong. However, I doubt I am.

I don't think so. Consider the script that 300 used in it's movie. Even though 300 had a script that sounded like it was written by a 12 year old, it did really well because all the gore and awesome fight scenes. Imagine those same kind of fight scenes with an intelligent script and unique characters like watchmen. I think it'll become a pop culture hit that a lot of people will enjoy.
yeah thats what i heard too. That sucks if it means that it wont be in the film at all. They should at least show it to a small extent, even if they show two short clips it would be so much better than none. I understand that things have to be cut for a resonable movie time but it is such an important part of the depth of this story.
TheTales of the Black Freighter is due to DVD release one week after Watchmen hits theaters, after the realease of the Watchmen DVD, there will be a release of Watchmen spliced with Tales of the Black Frieghter clips.

Anyway, it's good to see Zack Snyder doesn't harbor illusions that Moore will like it. It shows he's conscious of how Moore regards adaptations of his works. He seems pretty confident about Watchmen's direction. So who knows, it may be a good movie. M-O-V-I-E.

Yes, it is a lot of words in the graphic novel, but it can still work. Plus 2 1/2 - 3 hours isn't that bad for the 12 chapters of Awesome.

In all fairness, Zack hasnt really done anything bad. Dawn of the dead was a damn good remake and i love zombie films, 300 wasnt amazing but it wasnt shit.

btw - the host of this show looks like a 45 year old meth-head, coming off a 9 day bender with a pair of old english 40's to keep him company. 2:32 - dude the guy is having trouble with reality and he really is doing his best to read his lines... so rofl. i dont know if reelzchannel is indie or what but they should really get a legit host. zack snyder cant even bear to look the guy in his eyes for more than a second for fear of his skin turning inside out.

so the best thing to do is how about getting alan to write a script on his own, no comic book adaptation to ruin.

Alan Moore refused to have anything to do with Hollywood related things after the abortion that was the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and also From Hell, V for Vendetta. He has previously stated that Watchmen would be impossible to adapt as a film because of sheer length and the fact it was written in a way to be suited to the graphic novel format ie you can flick back through pages and see things that you never saw before that become alot clearer because of whats just happend

Yeah but I read now that Moore has not seen or heard one thing about the movie. All movies based on his books he reclines to put his name on it. Constantine, League, V for Vendetta... Moore refuses to have anything to do with all movies even if they are good (which so far none have been.)

I think I read Watchmen and now many years later I'll have to reread it then see the film. There were parts I didn't get. Hope it is made for the comic book crowd who will also buy the dvd. Isn't it about a bunch of out of shape superheroes that try to stop...ah that would be telling, nevermind.

I agree with you on the tom cruise part. But changing the ending would be completely stupid. Rorshach had to die because he would never comprimise like the other characters. In my opinion hes the only true hero in the book.

I agree 100%, but it wasn't just his unwillingness to compromise. Rorschach had a death wish from the begining, His life had been filled with so much agony and disappointment, he had to die. He is without a doubt my favorite comic book character of all time.

I read the novel (I don't read, I'm not into comics), and I loved it. And I was sad that Rorschach died. But then I realized... that's how his character becomes complete. He has no purpose in the world any more.

I think this movie is going to be a huge box office bust. Not because it's going to be a bad movie but just because I don't think the general movie going puplic are going to get it. Remember what happened to DUNE? I pray I'm horribly wrong. However, I doubt I am.

I don't think so. Consider the script that 300 used in it's movie. Even though 300 had a script that sounded like it was written by a 12 year old, it did really well because all the gore and awesome fight scenes. Imagine those same kind of fight scenes with an intelligent script and unique characters like watchmen. I think it'll become a pop culture hit that a lot of people will enjoy.

yeah thats what i heard too. That sucks if it means that it wont be in the film at all. They should at least show it to a small extent, even if they show two short clips it would be so much better than none. I understand that things have to be cut for a resonable movie time but it is such an important part of the depth of this story.

TheTales of the Black Freighter is due to DVD release one week after Watchmen hits theaters, after the realease of the Watchmen DVD, there will be a release of Watchmen spliced with Tales of the Black Frieghter clips.

moore hates what they do to his books when they make them movies with VERY good reason. if he actually watched it that alone would make it the best comic movie of all time. if moore liked it that would mean it needs the best picture oscar. i know thats kind weird to say for a comic movie but dont forget that the book is good enough that if done right it would be that caliber of movie

Well, yeah, Gerard Butler has a part.... but if what I hear is correct then you won't see him 'til the Watchmen DVD comes out! Cause he's gonna be cast as that pirate guy in the "Black Freighter" side comic!
Anyway, it's good to see Zack Snyder doesn't harbor illusions that Moore will like it. It shows he's conscious of how Moore regards adaptations of his works. He seems pretty confident about Watchmen's direction. So who knows, it may be a good movie. M-O-V-I-E.

Yes, it is a lot of words in the graphic novel, but it can still work. Plus 2 1/2 - 3 hours isn't that bad for the 12 chapters of Awesome.

And the last thing I don't 100% agree with you is that Rorschach is dead... get over it. It was a sad end to such a great character, but the tears have been shed and it's time to move on.

In all fairness, Zack hasnt really done anything bad. Dawn of the dead was a damn good remake and i love zombie films, 300 wasnt amazing but it wasnt shit.
The problem is, dont have to much high hopes. I think its going to be good... thats all, it cant be bad and he is sticking to it a much as he can.
