So cute! I want to say thank you as my lovebirda had their 1st clutch last August and I emailed you through your website about hand raising. Rodney was so kind and emailed me all the info I needed to undertake my first hand raising! I followed your instructions and successfully raised them. The 3 babies are now 5 mo, happy and healthy! I adopted one out and kept the other two. One of them is already talking! You can see videos of them on my channel. I recorded the whole process. :)
You are welcome. The thanks belongs to you! It was amazing how the handraising info you gave was 100% spot-on. The babies did everything you said they would do each week like playing with toys, trying "big-bird" food and the cutest milestone when they took their first flight (to us) just like you said they would. My lovebird babies and I are so grateful to you! My lovie parent have started laying again and this time I know I can raise the babies again thanks to you ;)
@wyldewynd No worries! We have egg shell that we can test for sex. That's about all you would want to do at this age. Other than that you can wait until they get older and you can get blood. :)
@gonzi That is not normal. It is a myth that birds abandon their young when we touch them, so there must be something else going on. Do they come back in the nest box later? If so then it isn't really abandoning.
When first time i peek the chick, the parents never came back the nestbox, the chicks died
from now on,i never peek the nestbox,i just waited the chick to come out the nestbox..i just see them fully grown, with complete feathers.not like your dancing chicks :(
@gonzi Have you established a relationship with the parents yet? They might see you as a predator peeking in the nest box and scared to go back where the predator lives.
I too have lovebirds, after seeing Tams/Rods. I check my chicks every day & parents dont mind. Last clutch, ten days between hatching 1st 2 eggs and last two eggs. Parents only fed oldest two and two younger died. This time I will take out the older and leave the younger. We have one hatched at present & 3 eggs to go. I love the names Tam chooses. You are a natural bird lover. Truly a beautiful person. :))).

wyldewynd 2 years ago
@wyldewynd How do you think we know?
stargazrt4 2 years ago
I am not sure unless you dna test them that is why I ask you how at that age you could tell.
wyldewynd 2 years ago
@wyldewynd Because we know when they hatched in the nest box! DNA does not tell age, but will tell sex.

They are not tamed like yours. Here in the Philippines, you can hardly see tamed lovebirds :(
I watch your other vids to tamed my birds, its a working progress right now..

@gonzi Keep working. Here in the USA, you hardly saw tame lovebirds until Tamara and I. You could change everything.

@KatieAvian For one, 18 inches wide by 18 inches long, so 18x4 will give you your answer.
