@lobbotekka2019 Caesar II demanded more a more complex understanding of economics (profits, taxation, trade and commerce). The game was also more dynamic because it split up the province and the city into separate management modes. That said, Caesar III is still a very enjoyable game and more than a worthy sequel.
I played the demo of Caesar 2 and it did seem better. I couldn't find for purchase anywhere and ended up buying Caesar 3 instead. Caesar 2 seemed much more serious and combat was more detailed (separate combat screen).
That's not what it sounds like on the version I have... the music is that of a light stringed instrument and changes to the trumpets after leaving this screen.... unless of course Mac and PC versions were slightly different in this respect
Thank you LadyLatias, but the problem is this error appears when I attempt an installation "The program or feature "\E??\install.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versuib if wubdiws. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit windows compatible version is available"
@NerdyNerdMajor Caesar 2 will work on 64 bit Windows. You need to be sure you run "setup.exe" not "install.exe" (this should install the program). Also, in Windows Vista and 7 will need a copy of a registry called "wing32.dll", which is the pre-directx runtime used by Microsoft. wing32.dll should be placed in the folder named "SysWOW64", at this point the game should run properly.
@SHAHINCLAAT Once when i finally succedded in conquering a province and completing my term profitable, i celebrated. Then, i had another nightmare province to choose... needles to say, i ended on a galley.
If somebody could post the Windows 95 Caesar 2 startup screen with the amazing harp track, I would seriously be eternally grateful, I still have the cd and since it wont play in windows, i tried looking for the audio track on the CD itself and couldnt pick it out among the files
I do believe you have to actually install the game into the programs file, see, older games just install straight onto the C drive, but XP and Vista games install the game files into the Program Files.
When installing the game, just create a file under the name of the game, in your programs file in C drive and redirect the file to install into the new file in Programs there. That SHOULD get it working.
Such a great underrated classic.
