Mikey, I did indeed make this as a square. If I had an e-mail address for you, I would be able to give you the types out instructions. And yes, IT LAYS FLAT!! :) This was actually my first ever "copy". I coppied it from a potholder that was loaned to me, using the original stitching as my guide.

What size chain do you use to do corners? When I do those I at least
chain three before going to the next. Sometimes it's also the size of your
hook.

Hi! Maybe you have to do it like some of the "stars": every 3-4 rounds you have to put 3st-ch2-3st in the corner sts...
