Animal abuse at it's finest, legal because it's a county shelter? They should all be charged with neglect and cruelty and the shelter closed until a new one is constructed.
The video says that the "newly formed" Humane Society is now taking care of the county animals. With donations and volunteers, the Humane Society WILL slowly improve that shelter. What the average tax payer does not always know is the county "animal pound" is run with our county tax dollars. What we can do as citizens is to flood the Marlboro County office with letters telling them to give more county tax dollars to the dog shelter because this inhumane treatment will not be tolerated.
You know I have been telling anyone I know, that owns a animal, to get it spayed/neutered. I hate people that breed animals for profit. They don't care who the animal ends up with, which is wrong in so many ways because not everyone is kind hearted. There are a lot of people that say, "well they're just animals" or "they have no feelings." All I have to say to the first part is, well you're just you, what makes you so special? Its been proven that animals have the same pain receptors as humans.
@ScotlandHumane....I have seen this posted on fb as well and have some rescue friends and kind citizens all over who want to get involved in getting this huge exposure and getting down to the bottom of this! I wouldn't put my ex husband in this dump, what needs to be done to shut this place down and get these animals out of there. are any rescues working to pull animals and do you have foster parents to help until they are placed. are transports willing to bring animals to people willing to foster because I am a foster and I will be more than happy to help whatgever it takes to help, this is gut wrenching.
This would be UNACCEPTABLE if anywhere but a govt run shelter!! This is cruel, sick and despicable! Nothing should be forced to live in these conditions!
This is heartbreaking! Completely unacceptable... I would have liked to have seen a plea at the end of the video asking for rescue for the poor kitties stuck in that rat hole too. It seems as though everyone always forgets the cats....I've shared this video on my FB! I pray that something gets done about this!

I'm a very amateur photographer, volunteering for the Scotland Co. Humane Society in NC, who as a favor to the Hum.Soc. of Marlboro Co,came to photography their available animals,& instead turned it into an expose' into the attrocities there.
This is horrendous!!!! And the adoption hours are ridiculous!! I can't believe the poor animals are kept in such terrible conditions. This is not a "shelter", but a hell hole. I hope that a new shelter with proper , compassionate, humane care for the animals is built there.
