I'm MBL and transitioning. 3 inches natural hair and the rest relaxer. It's scary to think about cutting off ALL my hair even though " it's just hair and it will grow back". I will try to transition for 16 months. Cut on my birthday :)

When I got it cut off it was cut right to my scalp so I was just about bald. I didn't tell anyone so it was a shock to go from shoulder length hair to nothing but I loved it. It's almost a year and I still love my natural hair!

I was just thinking about doing the BC after transitioning for only 3 months. But now I think I'll wait and do more kinky twists, box braids, and yarn braids. and after I loose some weight I think I'll cut it then. But thanks for the vid. I have decided to do the BC and my husband isn't too thrilled about it. This started out as a challenge to myself to see if I could do it. I am pretty sure I'm not going to like my hair afterward but I feel like if I don't do it then these last 29 weeks were for nothing.

I put in my last relaxer on March 26th, 2009. One thing I have learned through all of this --->It's JUST hair. It WILL grow back, often healthier and happier than before. Embrace it, love it, and if you don't, change it.

Girl...I know EXACTLY how you felt! I hadn't had a relaxer in about 2 years, decided I wanted to go natural about 2 1/2 weeks ago while out of town, and had just got a sew in 3 weeks prior to that. I came home and decided to take my sew in out because I was soooooo excited. I decided to do natural styles until I was fully ready to cut out the relaxer. I was so excited to get it done already, woke up this morning and cut out the relaxer. It was like an itch waiting to be scratched. Lol!

I was really scared to have short hair too! All my life my hair came at least to my shoulders and I could rely on a ponytail for those bad days, but this short hair has really grown on me! you go girl! i know exactly how you feel. transitioned for 6 months, cursing that relaxed hair all the while. i went to the barber shop one night and never looked back. that was actually about 6 months ago and i love, love, love my new look. every week my hair grows longer and i get to experiment more and more. you'll love it. don't stress, you're beautiful and you can rock it! :)
congrats.....i love natural hair. if i was not so tenderheaded i would go natural but i do not know if i can handle it because my hair is so thick and with me being tenderheaded it may not be a good combo. but i can't wait to see what styles you pick to rock.

There's nothing like it when you get to that place :-D. I would have loved having a video of my BC (my BF took pictures, I have to get them from her). I didn't tell my dh when I did it either, he didn't have the reaction that I wanted, but I was prepared for it anyway. I really like your nail color.

I was just thinking about doing the BC after transitioning for only 3 months. I'm in my 7th month of transitioning also. I feel exactly the same way you do. Everything has been smooth, but now I'm ready to cut it. BUT I'm SOOOO scared. I did the same thing you did and I have cut off a lot in the back and a few other places. I actually like my texture, I"m just scared to have short hair. You look great with your new hair too! Congrats!

I was really scared to have short hair too! All my life my hair came at least to my shoulders and I could rely on a ponytail for those bad days, but this short hair has really grown on me! Good luck with your transition - and I just watched a few of ur vids...you're gorgeous and could totally rock the short hair!!!

you go girl! i know exactly how you feel. transitioned for 6 months, cursing that relaxed hair all the while. i went to the barber shop one night and never looked back. that was actually about 6 months ago and i love, love, love my new look. every week my hair grows longer and i get to experiment more and more. you'll love it. don't stress, you're beautiful and you can rock it! :)

congrats.....i love natural hair. if i was not so tenderheaded i would go natural but i do not know if i can handle it because my hair is so thick and with me being tenderheaded it may not be a good combo. but i can't wait to see what styles you pick to rock.

WOW! The short hair really emphasizes your features. Girl, you are so strong for doing this. I couldn't imagine how my family would react if I cut my hair because it's always been long. My grandmother is upset that I cut it shoulder length...just imagine if I went natural lol. Anyway, congratulations to you and good luck on your journey!

Congratulation on your new natural hair journey! I transitioned for 7 months too. I totally understand how ready you are about doing your BC; it's a complete resolute feeling and part excitement too. There's nothing like it when you get to that place :-D. I would have loved having a video of my BC (my BF took pictures, I have to get them from her). I didn't tell my dh when I did it either, he didn't have the reaction that I wanted, but I was prepared for it anyway. I really like your nail color.

Congrats! You're still beautiful as always! I haven't had a perm since last August and I did my BC in december. I still don't have the guts to wear it out natural so I just wear wigs lol. Hopefully in a few months I'll be comfortable enough with it. It takes time. Good Luck!
