Sharks are a predator of the Stingray which would have made them extremely anxious and defensive of any type of interference.

Unfortunately he was pierced through the heart by a sting ray. Its kind of fuzzy but i believe he triggered a reflex of a sting ray where its tail shoots up. Defensive mechanism or something. He pulled the barb out and bled to death. Normally if you leave it in you wont die, in fact a few weeks later an old man was pierced in a similar way and survived.

He will certainly and severely be missed, but never forgotten. I remember how I first got turned on to him. Back when his show "Croc Hunter" made it's first appearance, I noticed how he handled the snakes. A way I'd never seen anyone do it before. So careful with the animals. I knew he was something special. What was so amazing to me is not just how much he loved animals, but how he also extended the same passion towards people. That is rare.

STOP PUTING THESE IN ALL OF STEVE IRWINS VIDOES. WE ALL CARE ABOUT THE DOLPHINS AND WHALES AND THE HORSES, BUT THIS IS NOT WHERE YOU SAY THESE THINGS. Stop putting these in all of Steve Irwin's videos! We all care about the dolphins and whales and the horses, but this is not where you say these things! Make a video or something about that. I really miss him..he was my biggest hero, and he is still my BIGGEST hero, when I was a little kid, I always wants 2 be just like him, and my love 2 animals is bigger than ever, and my respect 2 Steve and his family 2.and he is dead now, and im still young, so I was just so sad about it, but I will always remember him...let him R.I.P (Rest In Peace)

I don't think he was a screw up, he was wonderful, and he did things many of us only talk about doing, or take for granted. The world could use a few more Steve Irwins. He loved so deeply and it showed. We will forever remember Steve. R.I.P. dear one

He will certainly and severely be missed, but never forgotten. I remember how I first got turned on to him. Back when his show "Croc Hunter" made it's first appearance, I noticed how he handled the snakes. A way I'd never seen anyone do it before. So careful with the animals. I knew he was something special. What was so amazing to me is not just how much he loved animals, but how he also extended the same passion towards people. That is rare.
