Yes, but the valves are poppet valves like you would find on a gasoline engine.

It actually has two poppet valves, 1 for each of the two intake valves. The exhaust valves are spring loaded ball valves inside the head that are closed by incoming high pressure air when the inlet valve opens.

Yeah, I love those old John Deeres.  Wish I had a real tractor, particularly an old D. I used to own a '41 B, but sold it about 20 years ago...
