  • Seems like a great guy as well as a great guitar player.

  • I want to eat that tone!

  • Is there really 6 dislikes to this video? I haven't met one decent guitarist who doesn't wish he/she could play like Mr Ford!

  • @Tbonetardis - piano player disliked it

  • amazing

  • why isnt that lez paul screaming through a 200x4 marshall stack like all the other vids on you tube..?

  • @pmay222 - because in those hands, it doesn't have to lol!

  • omg, is it a dvd?>??????where can i get the whole thing?

  • I don't care who owned/owns it, no piece of wood is worth that kind of bread.

  • Larry Carlton's 1957 Les Paul GT....worth a couple hundred grand.

  • @kingsalasi It's a factory Gibson Goldtop Les Paul. Really nothing special about it, unless you're just particularly into Les Paul guitars.

  • @funkifyyourlife Lol, it's special because Mr Ford is playing it!

  • anyone know the make of the guitar

  • tight

  • Hard to find such an LP

  • I love his guitar how much u rekon that cost

  • Thanks:-D

  • where can I find the full lessons

  • @kingsalasi On the DVD...

  • I respect him for sharing his knowledge openly, not many musicians do that.

  • i love that chord he uses (7x576x) he moves it up and down the neck and still is in key. i jus wish i knew exactly what roots (baseing it off the low E) played off of the A7. its hard tellin by watchin him cuz hes soooo graceful, he kinda fakes me out! damn ROBBON UR GIFTED...

  • @bubbayork, Yeah, it's a sweet voicing. It's a first inversion of a dom 7th chord. So the root is the maj 3rd. In the case of A7 it would be C# as the low note on the E string.

  • @bubbayork ....most of the time when he's playing the vamp he's leaving out the top (highest) note (which is the flat 7)

  • just wanna ask, is there a dvd of that clinic of his? or do you know where i could download it? thanks a lot!

  • @marshi09 It's on Amazon, called Robben Ford - The Art of Blues Rhythm

  • Can somebody please help me on the transition he does from the I chord!? Having a hard time figuring it out.

  • @superagnitio It's the I chord as a barred dominant chord (A7), then the Bm7 (7x777x), then G#7/B# passing up to A7/C#--> G#7: 8x687x A7: 9x798x

  • @funkifyyourlife That's a tad over my theory comprehension, but still very useful. Thanks a lot for your help man! Take care :)

  • @superagnitio Not that difficult. In the key of A, it's the IIm7 chord(Bm7), and then A7 chord approached from one fret below, G#7, resolving up a fret back to A7. The confusing part is 1) Robben fingers the Bm7 oddly, and 2) G#7 and A7 chords have the 3rd of the chord in the bass. The A7 chord has A, C#, E, and G. The voicing he is using has the C# note as the lowest note, labeled A7/C#. This means A7 with C# in the bass. It's approached by the same chord one fret lower, the G#7/B#, or Ab7/C.

  • @funkifyyourlife If I can only finger that oddly lol.

  • @funkifyyourlife Yeah, see, you know about theory and you are finding some of it odd. You cannot go on to say to someone who lacks theory knowledge that it's not that difficult, haha.

  • @SagaiaK Ummm, who are you, and what do you have to do with this conversation? If it's you that can't understand the theory, it's easy to see why. You didn't read my reply very thoroughly. I said that the fingering that Robben is using is odd. I don't know anyone who uses 3rd and 4th fingers to play the Bm7 chord. I said that what he's playing is not that difficult to understand, and then explained it.

  • @superagnitio E-mail me if you want more clarification...

  • He is amazing! Saw him for the first time at Dixon Fair on May 4th. He opened for Johhny Lang. It should have been the other way around.

  • @sactown900 Agreed. Robben is on a whole 'nother level than Lang. He couldn't shine Robben's shoes...

  • these lessons create a whole new canvas of chords for me for my blues playing

  • Does anyone agree with me that the sweetness of his sound here is partly because he uses a fender amp?

  • @1glassMilk Well, not to be disagreeable, but Robben *always* has a great sound, regardless of what he plays through. He does some great work through a Dumble a lot, and through other equipment as well. It has far more to do with Robben's playing than it has ever been about his equipment.

  • 4:17 The dude all in the back on the left side, what he thinks? Am I at the wrong event? What a strange 6 String Bass this dude is playing!

  • There are a lot of great guitars players out there but only few really matter. Robben is one of them.

  • ... and, MAAAAN - what a sweeeet groooove !!!!

... the only real important thing in music .....

  • Robben Ford is great!

  • Great instructor

  • I just smile when I hear him play.

  • I just smile when I hear him play.

  • tHE MOST BEAUTIFUL TONE!!!!!

  • thats a sweet lespaul

  • @reaismine843 1957, was a present of Larry Carlton :)

  • @reaismine843 do you kno what it is?

  • thanks

  • nice!!!!

  • This is a great lesson. Take it it one step further and play a solo using those same ideas with arpeggios, through the progression. Too cool!

  • Great!
