SNL didn't hurt Palin's chances and she did appear on one episode of the show to poke fun at herself. But what really hurt Palin was the actual Katie Couric interview during which she demonstrated she was completely clueless about every relevant issue of the election. She knew nothing about foreign affairs, she knew nothing about the economy and she resorted to sputtering convervative catch-phrases instead of attempting to answer questions. It was a disaster politically.
