I love this man, but his hair in that one song... I have no words to describe it.
And to all those who hate on him, that's crazy. He's one of the most consistently entertaining Tamil actors - that's talent. He doesn't really have to be a great actor or have amazing movies. He's a real crowdpleaser and churns out what people want - mindless fun.
And i really disliked Vikram in Kasi, or Surya in Pithamagan so please dont use those examples. Yes Vikram in Anniyan, Kamal in Thenali, Anbe Sivam, Panchatantiram, Madhavan in Nala Dhamayanthi are good movies. But i really don't like that movie Kasi or Pithamagan. So please stop comparing Vijay to kamal hassan who is a legend and has way more experience than Vijay! And i always encouraged vijay to do good acting and good movies so no need to tell me that i already mentioned a 1000 times!
Surya in pithamagan was the backbone of the entire movie - if surya's character wasnt in that film, pithamagan would have been totally depressing. Personally i didnt like Kasi, but Vikram honestly did a wonderful performance. As i said, i was only talking about their performances, and not whether i personally enjoyed the film.
well to me like i said the movie has to be enjoyable otherwise it is a waste for me even if the actors performance is good! for it to be a good movie i have to enjoy it!
yh, well i enjoyed Pithamagan a lot (well i enjoyed it UNTIL they killed Surya's character in some mega-brutal way). Surya and Laila were hilarious. And so were Karunas and Manobala. And not to forget, Maetro Ilayaraja's beautiful song 'Ilangathu Veesuthe'. An evergreen tamil song of the 21st century in my opinion. One of the best picturised Ilayaraja songs - clearly depicts the emotions of all 4 lead characters (friendhip, love, jealousy, etc)
And for ur kind information ur Suriya and Vikram haven't been doing that great movies either Aadhavan was damn terrible i hated that movie and guess what Kanthaswamy, Bheema, Vaarnam aayiram, vel all waste movies even they have been selecting poor scripts so please dont dare compare Vijay with Suriya because Vijay has way more experience than Suriya even Suriya himself admitted that he can't beat Vijay.
something i'd like to tell you is that, just because vijay's acted in 50 films and surya only 25, it doesnt mean he is more experienced. Surya has already worked with the top tamil directors like Mani, Ameer, Bala, Gowtham, Murugadass; vijay hasnt worked with any of these directors. Also, Surya shared screenspace with Bharathiraja as well in Aayutha Ezhuthu.
BTW surya admitted that he cant DANCE as well as Vijay, as fas as i knw, he never said anything about beating Vijay.

The only 'class' movie vijay has done are Kadhalukku Mariyadhe and Poove Unakkage. but those were like, 15 years ago.

As well as that, VA got a National Award for Best Regional Film in Tamil, which surely shows that it is indeed a good film, and if you watch it with an open-mind (ie forget about all the masala nonsense you'd except from a typical tamil film), then you would appreciate the film a lot.

I've already included Santhosh Subramaniyam in my list of fav films. I loved laagan (this film made me a fan of Aamir Khan). I thought unnai pol oruvan wasnt as good as A Wednesday - which according to me was nearly flawless. Boys and Love Aaj Kal were enjoyable. i havent seen dil ka kabbadi, raat gaayi baat gayi, rann, swades or hum tum - like i've said, i just started hindi films (since 2008).
I watch some malayalam films - manichitratazhu is my fav one so far.
from this list, i loved alaipayudhem 3 idiots, kal ho na ho, anbe sivam, parthiban kavanu. i liked panchathandiram, hey nee rhomba azhaga irukke, thenali. Nala dhamayanthi was alright - i cant remember that film well since i saw it years ago. i havent seen sathi leelavathi and dil chahta hai. i havent watched a lot of old films and just recently started watching Hindi.
it is not free of masala especially when he is running around lookin for that boy with his long hair what a pure drag it is and also i hated how the movie moved so slow from the intro itself it was a terrible movie! Not at all enjoyable! His Maayavi is a really really good movie however this was terrible! Infact i think tamil cinema has become really poor these days we just don't get the class movies we got before in early 2000s and 1990s!
when i said free of masala nonsense, i meant that it didnt have any of those stupid punch dialogues, item songs, unecesary fights. VA is not an art film, nor a commercial film. Its like a bit of both. yh, i agree that it did drag a bit (in the 2nd half, after sameera dies), but i just liked it for some reason. The thing about Surya, no matter how boring the scene is, he just lights up the screen, so you never feel bored. Same can be said about Vikram and Karthi.
and i agree with you that nowadays we hardly get class films, but it is improving. We get films like Mozhi, Veyyil, Angadi Theru, Subramaniyapuram (i wouldnt classify this as 'class' to be honest - a bit too violent, but the 80s theme was nice), Katradu Tamil, Paruthiveeran, etc. These films can make TN proud. But on the other hands, some crazy so-called fans are insisting that films like Aasal, Kanthaswamy, Vettaikaran are good, when in fact they are just terrible.
I see u liked Vijay's friends which is an amazing movie i gotta respect that but however I didn't find anything great in Vijay's Pokkiri and Vadivelu's comedy was disgusting in it and where as u said u liked Pokkiri. And how could u like a film like Nadodigal it was such pure drag that movie! They just run aroudn the whole time and theres so much crying terrible movie!
i've only seen Pokkiri ONCE, and i saw it straight after i saw that nightmare called Aathi, and as a result Pokkiri seemed really good. Maybe i should watch it again.
And as for Nadodigal, that too, i saw it after i watched films like Villu, Padikaathavan, Thoranai, and Nadodigal was like such a relief for me. I think i'll rewatch these 2 films again and consider. But i really didnt find it bad, i thought it was okai.
After sura Bodyguard remake in tamil which is his next film will be a romantic comedy done by a malayalam director the one who did friends with Vijay in 2001! This will be Vijay's return with Siddique after 9 years, their last film together was in 2001. And it will be Vijay's return to romantic films his last one was done five years ago under the name of Sachein! So Bodyguard will rock guys because it is a good romantic comedy script and Vijay will once again be the top among the females!

normally, when i ask a vijay fan to name me a film where he acted gud, they wuld say Kadhalukku mariyadhe, TMT, kushi etc. For me, acting doesnt mean a film where the character is good. The actor needs to live as this character. Vijay acted well in those roles, but he never lived as them. Examples of people living as characters are:
Vikram in Kasi, Surya in Pithamagan, Karthi in Paruthiveeran, Dhanush in Kadhal Konden, Arya in Naan Kadavul, Jeeva in Raam, Kamal in a lot of movies.
Sura is said to be Vijay's last mass masala movie and Vijay and the Sura team have done this movie with extreme care as they want this to be Vijay's biggest mass movie! The costumes that Vijay uses in Sura are really Stylish. Vijay will end the mass era with Sura! His next film Bodyguard is expected to start shooting in June and is said to be a romantic comedy. After finishing Sura, Vijay has decided to follow a new path and will only select strong scripts with good screenplay!

I saw u likd Vaarnam aayiram in ur profile i think that was a garbage movie please tell me what was good in that since the beginning of the movie that terrible bleeding from the father and coughing so horrible that movie is i can't believe gautham menon directed it! And so much dragging scenes like the part where he runs around with long hair and all! Such a waste movie, I liked Minsara Kanna a million times more than that!

It blatantly shows that we have totally different opinion.
As well as that, VA got a National Award for Best Regional Film in Tamil, which surely shows that it is indeed a good film, and if you watch it with an open-mind (ie forget about all the masala nonsense you'd except from a typical tamil film), then you would appreciate the film a lot.
And not to forget, Surya did a fantastic performance.

I've already included Santhosh Subramaniyam in my list of fav films. I loved laagan (this film made me a fan of Aamir Khan). I thought unnai pol oruvan wasnt as good as A Wednesday - which according to me was nearly flawless. Boys and Love Aaj Kal were enjoyable. i havent seen dil ka kabbadi, raat gaayi baat gayi, rann, swades or hum tum - like i've said, i just started hindi films (since 2008).
I watch some malayalam films - manichitratazhu is my fav one so far.

from this list, i loved alaipayudhem 3 idiots, kal ho na ho, anbe sivam, parthiban kavanu. i liked panchathandiram, hey nee rhomba azhaga irukke, thenali. Nala dhamayanthi was alright - i cant remember that film well since i saw it years ago. i havent seen sathi leelavathi and dil chahta hai. i havent watched a lot of old films and just recently started watching Hindi.

it is not free of masala especially when he is running around lookin for that boy with his long hair what a pure drag it is and also i hated how the movie moved so slow from the intro itself it was a terrible movie! Not at all enjoyable! His Maayavi is a really really good movie however this was terrible! Infact i think tamil cinema has become really poor these days we just don't get the class movies we got before in early 2000s and 1990s!

when i said free of masala nonsense, i meant that it didnt have any of those stupid punch dialogues, item songs, unecesary fights. VA is not an art film, nor a commercial film. Its like a bit of both. yh, i agree that it did drag a bit (in the 2nd half, after sameera dies), but i just liked it for some reason. The thing about Surya, no matter how boring the scene is, he just lights up the screen, so you never feel bored. Same can be said about Vikram and Karthi.

and i agree with you that nowadays we hardly get class films, but it is improving. We get films like Mozhi, Veyyil, Angadi Theru, Subramaniyapuram (i wouldnt classify this as 'class' to be honest - a bit too violent, but the 80s theme was nice), Katradu Tamil, Paruthiveeran, etc. These films can make TN proud. But on the other hands, some crazy so-called fans are insisting that films like Aasal, Kanthaswamy, Vettaikaran are good, when in fact they are just terrible.

i've only seen Pokkiri ONCE, and i saw it straight after i saw that nightmare called Aathi, and as a result Pokkiri seemed really good. Maybe i should watch it again.
And as for Nadodigal, that too, i saw it after i watched films like Villu, Padikaathavan, Thoranai, and Nadodigal was like such a relief for me. I think i'll rewatch these 2 films again and consider. But i really didnt find it bad, i thought it was okai.

After sura Bodyguard remake in tamil which is his next film will be a romantic comedy done by a malayalam director the one who did friends with Vijay in 2001! This will be Vijay's return with Siddique after 9 years, their last film together was in 2001. And it will be Vijay's return to romantic films his last one was done five years ago under the name of Sachein! So Bodyguard will rock guys because it is a good romantic comedy script and Vijay will once again be the top among the females!

He has said that Sura will be his last masala movie and he is going to be leaving this path and doing only different films from now on with strong scripts and good screenplay so leave him alone.

normally, when i ask a vijay fan to name me a film where he acted gud, they wuld say Kadhalukku mariyadhe, TMT, kushi etc. For me, acting doesnt mean a film where the character is good. The actor needs to live as this character. Vijay acted well in those roles, but he never lived as them. Examples of people living as characters are:
Vikram in Kasi, Surya in Pithamagan, Karthi in Paruthiveeran, Dhanush in Kadhal Konden, Arya in Naan Kadavul, Jeeva in Raam, Kamal in a lot of movies.

another thing is vijay is going to change he will be targeting awards soon. His father S.A chandrashekar said in a interview in dindigul district to journalists that vijay will target awards post 2011 and take movies that have strong storylines and shed his commercial image!
