Yeah it orginated in 1988. At half time against Ireland, England were 0-3 down. However during the second half England scored six tries to give them a 35-3 win. Three of the tries came from Chris Oti, a black player making his Twickenham debut. It was sung by the English crowd in honour of him. It has stuck ever since.

I am a Scotsman and certain songs make me think of certain places. This one makes me feel proud to live in England, Flower of Scotland for home, Land of my Fathers for my Welsh brothers. Don't know what to think of for the Irish, they are more messed up than us Glaswegians

@hawickman: All I think of when I hear Irelands Call is of a country that lacks unity until the IRFU tell them they must work together. Personally I also think that they're too biased against those from Northern Ireland by not playing their anthem as well as the Republic's before games.

@TheSmithersy the problem is that the Northern Irish do not feel either fully Irish or British. We are a hybrid of the two.. regardless of whether u are catholic (such as myself) or protestant. Northern Irish identity is hybrid.. we are not Irish like those in the south, nor are we British like those in Britain. The disaster that was partition in 1922 created that cultural divergence. It should have been either all or nothing. Personally id like a united Ireland within the UK.
