  • RIP Stuart Adamson. I grew up listening to Big Country. My Hero!!!!!

  • Arguably one of the best songs they have written if NOT the best. A man full of soul a tune full of soul. RIP, YNWA Stuart.

  • reminds me of someone who died right in front of my father, his wife :( almost 2 years ago!

  • just one word....GENIUS

  • great to see ye boys back out on the road, with such an enthusiastic singer like Mike from 80's group The Alarm.

  • you have to ask youself, with this much tallent why would you do it ??? He had a lot of issues with himself and the world and now the world is a lesser place without the talent that was Stuart Adamson and Big Country. We should be thankful we had him and that some of us could see it live on stage. Thanks SA and BC.

  • No bullshit, won't pump my religious or political opinions into what isn't there, just a great song, and what a video, I feel robbed of what could have been with this bloke. He had more talent in his little finger than most can dream of.

  • WHAT A BAND!! WHAT A SONG!! STUART ADAMSON RIP MISS YOU BIG TIME!!

  • WHAT A BAND!! WHAT A SONG!!

  • Saw them last night in Notts, Mike Peters did great job , loved the Alarm too, but so sad, Stuart could have been there... Big Country spirit lives on... Stay ALIVE !!!

  • I grew up listening to this song, im 18, my dad loves big country, And after a bit of questioning, i found out that my dad named me Calum after Stuarts son, who he went to see at one of his gigs, got recognised by Calum and got to go to the sound check with them, and also hes just got back from seeing Big Country in Nottingham, its sad what happened to Stuart and may he Rest In Peace,

    Love this song Forever.

  • gay

  • I was at school with Stuart....... he was a Gent!

  • Happy birthday buddy. Never a day goes by without thinking of the laughs we had. Sleep well my friend X

  • @SuperUsernameunavail Your words touched me,did you know him personaly then?

  • @debbieedeedoo i worked as a roadie for Big Country in the early 90's....so you can say i knew them all pretty well. Packed the job in and lost touch with them all thru my own fault. Hit me like a sledge hammer when i heard about Stu

  • Das Kreuz auf Stuarts Shirt lässt hoffen, dass wir uns im Himmel wiedersehen...God bless you all

  • gorgeous man, in so many ways

    what a loss

  • great song great man

  • Going to see Big Country in 3 weeks. Can't wait till then

  • @PapaC1992 how i thought the lead singer went suicide

  • @joshpogi777

He did. Big Country have recruited Mike Peters (ex. The Alarm) as their new lead singer.

  • @joshpogi777 @PapaC1992 Yes but the band is still existing! :) Wikipedia: On 16 December 2001 Adamson was found dead, after committing suicide by hanging in a room at the Best Western Plaza Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii. At the time of death he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.279%.

  • no one will ever come close to stuart in my eyes a truly talented lost soul who touched so many people with his beautiful lyrics and fantastic guitar work what an inspiration to so many people if only he could of seen how he meant to all of his fans he might still be here today, rest in peace stuart my hero my friend never forgotten x

  • I'm not 1 for excepting a song when I first hear it... But this is an exception. Great Song! WTG!!

  • They wrote many great songs- this always seems the last 'final fling'. Hard to believe that it's almost ten years since Stuart's death.

  • big country never got the credit they so deserved .SIMPLE

  • Don´´t you just love his little smile at the end ?

    I will always miss him

  • wow

    :)

  • As I am close to Scotland (as a German) still have many friends there, I loved Big country. Gettin *Ships* for the first time in my ears, I felt what we all need:

    Freedom, peach and neverending friendship

  • Greatest song of all times.... RIP Stuart :o(

  • Don't bother scrolling down. Take your hand off the mouse and just enjoy the music. There's no jewels of wisdom down there, trust me

  • @elitesniperface I'm sorry sir but I'm going to copy and paste your comment to all and every video i visit xD... those are the words I've been looking for to describe those silly youtube comment discussions

  • @elitesniperface Ooh you made me look anyway ;-)

  • @elitesniperface I scrolled immediately into Pinkberrie123's comment, and learned bitterly how right you are. It's tempting to tell off yet another self-obsessed, approval-seeking internet teenybopper, but I've gotta learn to ignore these parasites and focus on what's actually worthwhile:.the music. Thanks for motivating me to not scroll further (in fact from now on I think I'll be ripping videos and watching them OFF of Youtube).

  • @elitesniperface so correct - +1

  • @elitesniperface Fantastic Advice!!

  • Seeing them in April, Nottingham Rock City and I cannot wait. I heard good reports about Mr. Peters too

  • how did he die its so sad im only 18 and i think Big Country has beter music then now days music and he has a wouderful voice

  • @tokko221 Suicide, sadly. December 16, 2001. Glad to see you appreciate his fine music and great voice. Keep the faith.

  • how anyone can 'dislike' anything written or performed by Stuart Adamson / BIg Country is beyond belief. The words, the melodies, the messages.....will remain with me forever.

  • Stuart's voice haunts me. It so depressing to think that his genius is no longer with us. He had an ability to write songs and deliver them with meaning. I think everyone can find a Big Country song that they can relate to. The music world is a much sadder place without Stuart in it. RIP :(

  • So sorry Stuart, I wasn't there when your ship went down, like so many of us, I was busy trying to save my own, but I will always regret not seeing you. You are so missed, I hope you are at peace now.

  • real talent!!!! no other way of describing Stuart. One of the best bands i EVER worked for. Will always be missed R.I.P mate X

  • rip stuart

  • Awesome track - Nuff said!

  • Fantastic - and even that ain't a good enough word to use! RIP Stuart - You will never be forgotten and your music will live on in our hearts forever.

  • nice.

  • Hope you found peace at last stuart.....Legend forever

  • STUART YOU ARE STILL REMEMBERED IN A SMALL COUNTRY CALL SINGAPORE! !AND ALWAYS WILL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Who would dislike this and actually make a conscious effort to click the dislike button? I don't get it. Anyway, beautiful video, and I don't understand why this would not be on the Ultimate Collection video...what a bummer.

  • @SheWoreLemon83

I think certain losers just click around randomly, and hit "dislike", to feel superior...gawd forbid they every wrote 1 song their whole lives...

  • Best live show I was ever at--1 of the best bands ever

  • What a shame. A voice like that. God bless you Stuart. You were everything I listened to as a young lad. Big Country shaped a generation, and I'll not forget you. RIP.

  • lifelong fan. going to see BC in belfast with mike peters not sure theres only 1 Stuart

  • A wonderful voice that was quieted way too soon.. A talent that was missed by the masses...I have to say they ARE one of my favorite bands...Stuart will/is missed...So where were the ships when he was down?>

  • The greatest band I have ever seen!

  • miss these guys a lot

  • @brantjames me too

  • I've seen big country 6 times and they still remain the best gig i've been to. Your music will always live on in my head and heart.........WHY STUART?

  • I don't understand why this beautiful video and also the video for Alone are not on the Ultimate Collection DVD...like what the F? Or at least they aren't on the US release.

  • mike peters poor substitute, where was he when his ship went down romancing no doubt maybe worse??.

  • Fantastic band - brilliant live - Stuart so sadly missed - such telling lyrics x

  • Comment removed

  • RIP we miss you....

  • Mike Peters to tour with remaining Big Country lads early 2011. Not Stuart, but a fitting tribute and a chance to hear the songs live..

  • @TheJollyColonel i really think it would have been a more fitting tribute to let Stuart's fantastic legacy speak for itself. And as for Mike Peters...just wrong

  • @azurasstar1 rightly or wrongly BC with Mike Peters eh? I attended the recent Islington 02 gig. It was very well handled and delivered. Crowd went bonkers, including me. All the old favourites, and not a money earner. Band were visibly taken back by the response. Younger punters there, who couldn't have possibly seen the original band but knew all the words. Going to Cambridge which happens ot be on Stuart's b'day and really looking forward to it. Go and see it before you diss it mate...

  • Outstanding. I sure do miss Stuart and the boys.

  • Great band so sad Stuart couldn't stick around. Loved them as Skids too. Followed them since I was 14 I'm 45 now, lol.

  • brillant the best

  • The greatest ever..simple as that...

  • R.I.P. stuart.... I feel your pain from time to time.... may God give you rest....

  • A fans reunion would be great, we should seriously do this.

Hire a room for the night, B/C blasting way all night, few drinks share a few memories etc.

Set up a display of B/C memorobillia etc.

I've done countless nights like this for T.Rex fans, I live in Liverpool, anybody interested in a B/C Night keep in touch on here.

I've been a fan since the beginning by the way, got to see them live countless times (60 odd I think) had some brilliant times and still miss Stuart loads.

  • @BART51258 are you on facebook?

  • @BART51258 sounds like a terrific idea! there room for a 22 year old who still wishes everyday he had the chance to see what he thinks is the best band ever?

  • Im with you Stuart!!....I left school in 85 listening to steeltown...im now 40 and youre still there after all these years...great music and bands never die!! Any chance of a reunion people?? If Big Country touched your lives, lets make it happen!!

  • big country did touch my life...i just found out that Stuart died...i cried

  • Stuart war ein absolutes Genie! Leider wandeln diese feinsinnigen Menschen oft am Abgrund- Stu ging einen Schritt zu weit- niemand war da, um ihn aufzuhalten. Es macht mich immer noch sehr traurig!

But he lives forever in his great songs!!! Thank you so much!!!

  • a waste of a true talent

    rip stuart

    classic song

    just like so many others

    you gave me so much

shame you never realised what you meant to so many.......

  • great songwriting..great band..sadly missed but great memories

  • still dont understand why he wasnt famous here in the United States but that is what happens when you dont spread your ass cheeks and act like a idiot like 99% of the famous United States singers.

  • Amazing song. I think I'll be heading to amazon to purchase a new Big Country CD. What an amazing band.

  • Stuart was one of a kind...a true tragedy

  • @whoperman How did he die?

  • @Libellebr He was found in his hotel room...he hung himself. Really a sad thing for such an amazing person.

  • Stu's Music is and will allways be unforgettable and incomparable like his voice and words. Unique & Beautyful

  • Stuart, you are so deeply missed. What a man, what a band, what songs. The best always seem to be taken from us. Rest in peace

  • great band great song *******

  • Step aside heaven's legends... the new King is here. Stuart Adamson playing lead...

  • thank you

  • beautiful song, but heartbreaking when I think that he is not here anymore.

  • Rest in Peace Stu..The world has never been the same without you..

  • I hasten to add I've followed BC, as I could from Canada, since 1983. I knew the Skids, but The Crossing created me. I wrote furiously to BC. I composed. I felt that I knew Stuart. He sang to me! The incredible music, tight, controlled, precise.

I can't express my loss. BC resonates in my soul, each day.

  • What a fine song, what fine lads, Dear Stuart, you were taken from us to soon, but God knows we love you so!

  • this group was fantastic never tire of listening to them r i p stuart

  • Diff class!!

  • ' heartful of soul' - it makes me shivering hearing his wonderful voice singing that words full of sadness...

  • This is music to live by. Here in the states no one remembers these guys; one day I heard In a Big Country (their only Stateside hit) on the radio and rushed home and spent the next half hour trying to remember the lyrics so I could find it on the net. So glad I did.

  • I really miss you Stuart! Rest in peace, wish you still be around... With love from Norway...

  • HE IS A MISS

  • Their music today stands the test of time.

Compared to half the rubbish put out now Stuys music soared. What happened to them where did they go, why didnt we here much of them in Australia?

A great loss now that Stuy aint around. RIP

  • I knew of Big Country back in the 80's but didn't actually appreciate their sound until only very lately. What a fool I was. This is fantastic.

  • @70blin... I here ya. I was a fan years ago but I haven't really listened to their stuff for a long time. I recently rediscovered them and haven't been able to get enough since. Sadly, Stuart is gone and I'm starting to age. Everytime I listen to them I recapture a small slice of my youth... if only for a bit.

  • @70blin Me too, I liked them back then but forgot about them. Now I don't play much else, the music seems to have aged well and seems more relevant to me now than it was then. Shame I can't tell Stuart what this means to me.

  • @veryheaven1924... your comments reflect my feelings exactly. 20 years (or whatever) later and i love them/him even more. i listen again and again, too, finding more and more to connect with. and it's not just nostalgia, either.

  • @darcelink

Me too, I feel the same way, agree totally with the last 4 postings. I was amazed at how much they did in the 90s and I knew nothing about it until I saw it on Youtube. They were criminally neglected, we all let you down Stuart, sorry, you deserved so much better.

  • Stuart's guitar is as masterful as his songs. Tony is the bass player all want, goes with the song to improve it, no ego trips to get his "special lick" in, same goes with his harmonies.A well-spoken, well brought up fellow is Tony. Mark is brilliant, but for togetherness, Tony just gives.

  • forever gutted stuarts not here could cry,he was my hero. i was so lucky to meet him at salford university in 1987. RIP stuart....

  • Love that Song - sometimes I feel the same emotions Stuart must have felt, when he wrote it - good luck, wherever you are.

  • What a band....what a loss...will never be forgotten

  • Oh Stuart. I miss you man and I feel your pain.

  • cause im only 14 ive never bin able 2 see bc )=

  • Stuart was the most under-rated singer, songwriter, guitarist of all time .............

  • @jamesnadam no m8 that will be JJ CALE

  • When I think of Stuart's personal problems I'm not sure running a Captain Morgan's rhum advert on this page is the coolest thing, but anyway .......

Thanks for the great video posting.

  • The most talented man to have ever graced the stage, heartbreaking stuff.

  • This song was one of their best
